If you think you're too weak to cut down then throw it away!
I don't see the big issue here. If you want something then
you do it. No?

I watch far too much shit too, but i'm fine with it. I've
been going online less as that was getting silly (like for
us all i'm sure) but luckily i was strong enough not to have
to throw my laptop away.

When I really want to write, I'll shut down my wifi. It's
kind of silly that I can't just, you know, not go on the
internet, but it's almost become a reflex to open up a
browser window (if one wasn't open already, for some
miraculous reason). I guess it works a kind of marker - time
to work.

Something similar could be done with tv, no?

Basically, yes. Take the batteries out of the remote. In my
case, I could unplug my modem, what with my tv being all
digital and shit.

It's all a bit childish, but if it works, it works.

Anyways.. have you tried watching Count Arthur Strong yet?

Yes ultimately what counts is that the desired destination
is reached. And i'm sure it can get much sillier!

Oh i forgot about him. On the downlo..

desperately need shit like that over here.

You need to recommend some more telly shows, Düsseldorf.
Maybe I need to get on Luther.

Luther was a surprise hit for me. At first i wasn't really
bothered but once i watched it i was amazed at how good it
actually is. Shame it's done and dusted, though now Idris is
absolutely loaded i'm sure a film will crop up.

boring and shitty. :)

A film script has already been written, and I believe it's
going to be made.

(I'm not invested, personally, I've never seen an episode
and don't feel any compulsion to.)

I'll tell you one thing I started watching a couple of
months ago, and I really loooove it - The Good Wife.

yeah, i'm with crazone, really. i am not one of those
haughty "i don't watch tv" people just like i am not one of
those "i never eat fast food" people. i enjoy both, but
there are other things i enjoy more! there are also things i
do not enjoy but have to do anyways, leaving me even less
free time to distribute to all the enjoyable things.

these days, if i watch something, it's usually because of
other people; they want to watch this or that. i say OK, cos
hanging out and watching TV is vastly superior to watching
TV alone, sort of like drinking. guess my advice is to only
watch TV when your girl watches it.

for me, there's something else, too. hard to describe. i
guess i'd call it a deepening impatience with the whole
concept. the show ends and what do i have to show for it? i
honestly feel better playing minecraft, 'cos then i at least
have some imaginary cyber couch fort to feel proud of. i
also like posting crap like this; still probably my single
biggest timewaster

If you're going down that road, it's all senseless - tv,
books, music, videogames, the church, war, what is it good
for, absolutely nothing.

Yeah, sure, you might temporarily convince yourself that one
thing is more worthy than the other, "make" some shit that
only really exists in the cold purr of a soon to fail hard
drive, but deep down, you know you're lying to yourself.
You're absailing down a bottomless abyss without a rope.

Yup.

Telly is entertainment and i don't see why it should be
compared to playing videogames, tennis or backgammon or
running.. it's not like it's one or the other. I'm rather
lucky i guess that i can enjoy lots of various forms of
entertainment.
Tv can also be used purely for educational purposes.

Also, my dear epicacatrax, you love to contradict yourself!
I don't understand you being impatient with the whole
'concept' either.

it's like that episode of friends in which one guy is like
"i fantasize about leia in a bikini" and another guy was
like "well yeah, but don't you hate it when you're about to
bang and suddenly you imagine it's your mum" and dude prime
is like "no, ew, why" but then at the end his girl dresses
up like leia and it hits him, he sees his mum, "dude prime
ruined my life!" he cries; credits. i'd skip this ridic
analogy and post something more straightforward, but i'm
trying to roll with the thread. leia is TV, mum is ambition,
and dude prime is advancing age.
