worst album? PISH POSH!

ICBYD is the best, it rocks + Richard had something to
prove, Drukqs is 'lackadaisical'. remeniacent of the french
aristocracy!!!!!!!

What I'm saying is, all this praise has made Richard think
he can do anything and everyone one will continue their
praise. Drukqs sucks. I don't care how many plug-ins were
converged.

lackadaisical? perhaps the mood of the album was just a bit
more serious than others, which are mainly jolly or full of
rhythmic energy. perhaps the drastic change in style threw
you off guard, with the prepared piano tracks and all. i
think the composition and arrangement are far superior to
anything he's made yet.

offline REFLEX from Edmonton, Alberta (Canada) on 2002-04-16 00:52 [#00176709]

vomitron: its got good stuff on it, but its mostly bullshit!
If anything the Wizards should like his old stuff more...
true AFX.

arg, well, a few tracks, like gwely mernans, were lacking,
but i think even those rounded out the overall mood of the
album. but you have to give him mad props for the new
prepared piano songs and some of the drill and bass stuff.

offline vomitron from austin (Vanuatu) on 2002-04-16 01:03 [#00176727]

arg, well, a few of the tracks were lacking, like gwely
mernans, but you've got to give him mad credit for expanded
his music that much more with the prepared piano tracks,
which i think are great, and the new drill and bass stuff.
it was hard to get used to the radical change, but i still
think the album as a whole is fantastic

There is no mad props from me for doing shit trax. he can do
that in his own time. I'm sure if Richard heard a 30 track
album he'd have some shit to say about some tracks.

Drukqs is sub-standard, don't brainwash yourself.

offline vomitron from austin (Vanuatu) on 2002-04-16 01:10 [#00176746]
Points: 42 Status: Lurker

well i guess i'll just go back to the repetitive simplicity
of his older hardfloor tracks which youre so found of.

Have you heard older aphex trax? It's not 'hardfloor' as in
frankfurt rubbish. I'm not wasting my time argueing with
you, check some good music and stop being a leech.

then dont waste your time, and yes ive heard the older
tracks and i was trying to classify the caustic window sound
as best i could with a well known genre, and i noticed you
didnt argue the repetitive simplicty aspect, ;)

no one can touch druqks, it's on a whole 'nother level of
complexity and precision; and above all, whatever inspired
those songs was surely interpreted by richard in a way which
few others could match in its uniqueness. he oozes ever
ounce of strength from each note and complements it with
noise that would melt your phace if you weren't prepared. i
don't know anyone who's heard 54 Cymru beats for the first
time and been able to listen to it all the way through
without adjusting the volume. i think we should welcome the
new RDJ and all his strange noises, hower poignant or
opposed to our diatonic tonal brainwashing. hopefully druqks
is only the tip of the unconventional iceberg.

its not repetative?!?!?!??!??!!!!!!! you need to listen more
intently to the little changes, change ups and layers he
does in those songs,, thats what makes them so golden! he
didnt get famous for drukqs or known as the king of techno
for drukqs... not at all.

offline REFLEX from Edmonton, Alberta (Canada) on 2002-04-16 01:28 [#00176781]

No man... Drukqs isnt on a new level of complexity at
all.....

years old 1974? :)

I can't argue with simpilcity or repitiveness. If a loop
rocks, it rocks. With each loop it confirms what I thought
before, it rocks. if it's shit and it loops that confirms
how shit it is.

Have you heard any 'Hip-Hop' vomitron?

offline vomitron from austin (Vanuatu) on 2002-04-16 01:30 [#00176789]

and i especially liked the new remixes he did: 120bpm and
168bpm, great songs. i have indeed heard this "hip-hop" you
speak of, ive also heard good music.

offline v0rd from austin (Afghanistan) on 2002-04-16 01:40 [#00176804]
Points: 10 Status: Lurker

no one said druqks didn't have any repetition. perhaps you
should give it another listen 'reflex.' complexity doesn't
exclude repetition, in fact, it relies on it. the difference
between druqks and all other music is when the parts repeat;
they are intentionally 'out of whack.' moreover, the parts
themselves are very finely tuned; and i doubt richard really
gives a damn if you like it as long as you spent the $20.
heh

offline JivverDicker from my house on 2002-04-16 01:41 [#00176805]
Points: 12102 Status: Regular

Yeah, the Men remixes were cool!

I'm not trying to be controversial. Drukqs was/is shit it's
a collection of non-tracks. There are maybe 5 tracks that
are good. Do you really want to buy another Album in the
future with 30 tracks that are as revoloutinay as these?

I'm sorry for being confrontational but drukqs is soo weak
compared to a million Mp3 artists!

I'll post my music for you to ridicule when I've
finished......

offline v0rd from austin (Afghanistan) on 2002-04-16 01:44 [#00176810]
Points: 10 Status: Lurker

he obviously got tired of the same old bullshit and decided
to start something else; i am of the opinion that RDJ has
only just begun aphecting music as we know it. if lots of
people liked druqks, it would be considered a failure.

offline v0rd from austin (Afghanistan) on 2002-04-16 01:46 [#00176812]
Points: 10 Status: Lurker

i'd buy anything with the aphex name on it. it doesn't
matter how ridiculous i first find it; what matters is that
i give it a chance. i didn't like druqks nearly as much as i
do now the first time i heard it. some people have a bit
more trouble getting passed first impressions.
