Nice, I forgot dd2 mission 5 is cool too, it has this "ribbit" sort of 2-notes-close-together theme. Track 2 almost sounds 3/4 time even though its 4/4. The dd1 tracks are great too, there's usually 2 very similar melodies panned opposite accentuating eachother in odd ways (double melodies like... double dragons). Well I'm done pretending I'm slightly happy I guess. |

I every now and then play the Double Dragon title theme in my head, and it pumps me up for fucking whatever. Fuckin' tight loop. You can get work done to that shit, invent new shit, IDM on that shit, and of course, kick a whole street's worth of ass on that shit. I remember when Double Dragon II The Revenge came out in the arcades. The first thing I noticed, is that I died almost immediately. The second thing was that the lit up title graphic was pretty badass, but I dunno why Billy/Jimmy whoever the fuck is holding the girl all torn up and shit. Oh, no wait- CUZ IT'S DOUBLE DRAGON. The first DD, it's pretty fucked up that they missed the gang punching and kidnapping the girl, by about 5 seconds. They could actually probably still see the gang walking a few meters ahead. And also, they had that red corvette/mustang whatever-- they should've just ran the fuck over everyone, save the girl, then high five. Martial arts are cool, but one of the main points is not to pointlessly fight as much as possible. It turns out in the end, maybe Billy and Jimmy were assholes. Maybe the gang were the good guys, and maybe they were kidnapping the female leader of the Double Dragon Gang-- the most hardcore gang in town, known for pointlessly murdering children and the elderly, eating the corpses, and giving away 10 pounds of free crack every month to get people hooked. FUCKING DOUBLE DRAGON GANG. But damn, tight theme song. |

There are many things I loved doing in Double Dragon 2 for NES but the best was when you were in that underwater facility with those low ceilings with spikes on them. Throwing a guy would make them smash into them and then back onto the floor. Unusually impactful 8-bit violence |
