I am installing cubase sx on a Toshiba laptop with windows

I did the setup, rebooted and then tried installing the
update. I got this message:
c:\\windows\system32\synsonos.dll is not valid previous
version and could not be upgraded

then the installation closed down.

can someone help?

maybe you can download the file manually and place it in the
folder

even the most recent version of sx, sx3, was released in
2005 and likely isn't compatible with windows 7.

if you're set on using old software, you'll likely have to
install on windows xp.

could you explain this possibility? Is it getting the
synsonos.dll file and putting it in a cubase folder/file? Do
you which file/folder to put it in?
I have reinstalled a number of times.

Thanks for y'alls help!

cubase sx is not terribly happy on anything past winxp,
unfortunately.... you will have better luck with later
versions of SX (3.1.1 etc) but on many systems it just
doesn't work. part of it is the fucking security dongle
software. anti-piracy measures blow goats.
