I listened to the first cd of their new album tonight and bladelores is blowing my mind.
I must admit that the last few albums of Autechres have been pretty difficult listens for me, but this one has already caught my attention with a few nice things here and there. I still haven't heard the second cd, but it seems good so far!

I went to post something by Autechre on Facetwat the other day to counter the endless posts of 90's grunge that my friends were putting up and while looking through their albums I realised I haven't liked anything they've done since LP5. I don't have the patience any more to sit through endless random noise waiting for a good bit. I also realised I didn't even bother listening to Exai when it came out because of this, but I'll give it a whirl since it seems you have the same handicap as me!

it's not great for "active" listening.
just throw it on and do your thing - the good bits will come

Yeah that's my problem with them for the last few albums. C'mon Sean and Rob, make an album that's JUST good bits, without the boring bits! It might be a bit shorter (i.e. the normal length of a normal album) but that's fine by me.

they have released tracks before with a beat that sounds like it's constantly filling in

I've had this playing a bit in the background again today and yeah there are some awesome parts. 1 1 is for instance is probably the best song of theirs I've heard in a while, just awesome stuff.
Overall to I'm finding a lot more grooves, like I'll just find my head bobbing up and down. Definitely a good thing. I still need to listen to it with headphones though to get the full experience.
