Suggestions to the mods

I have seen much sniping around here as of late about the
state of the forum both technically and moderationally.
Simple groaning and complaining doesn't solve anything, so
let's pool our ideas for the site:

Here are some of the concerns I've seen voiced, and I
encourage you all to weigh in on them:

1) Money paid to support the site but no actual changes
being made.
2) Lack of moderation and, in particular, the absence of
the owner of the site.
3) An increase of death threats.
4) DubTurbo.

I know this list isn't exhaustive so please feel free to add
as you go.

1) Money paid to support the site but no actual changes
being made.

How much money are we referring to? Hosting isn't free. Just
keeping the site 'as is' costs money.

2) Lack of moderation and, in particular, the absence of
the owner of the site.

You should see how they wail when we do moderate. It
appears that unless three moderators are here, about 16
hours a day, the overwhelming majority think that we don't
have the "right" to impose any control. I suppose it's
likely laws that are never enforced; when you get stung by
them, you feel hard done by because "all my friends do it
all the time and they never got in trouble for it". You
know, even though it's just a privately owned site on the
interwebs and it's not like your civil liberties have been
harmed by being given a time out.

Oh and Phobiazero still observes.

3) An increase of death threats.

Online death threats are great. They're one of those things
where someone they're targeted at can be a really vindictive
cock and contact the police and claim they thought it was
real and before you know it, some man in his mid twenties
with bad acne is getting a sudden visit IRL from the
rozzers. Given the light-hearted nature of this place, even
the most paranoid chain-joint-smoking freak would never
imagine this actually happening, so they never bother to
anonymize their connection to Zilty.

4) DubTurbo.

Damn, thanks for that, you reminded me. Before I spend a lot
of time and effort and call in some favours unnecessarily,
please can people (ideally those who were most upset by the
DubTurbo offer) please give their opinion on Ohm Studio? I
happen to think it's good and would love to do an XLT vibes
using it. Phobia and I have been in discussion with Ohm
Force, but I'd rather sound our wonderful community out on
it first, before proceeding.

RE: Ohm Studio,

It sounds like a great idea but I would want to see a video
of it in action before I'd spend the money to download a
crack.

btw, about the money, iirc it would cost next to nothing to
run xlt as is, but phobez keeps saying he wants to do so
much more with the site which is where the inflated costs
come from.

and prolly going on somewhere close to a decade of false
promises about a new version coming, it's pretty fucking
hard to take any of that on good faith. the only actual
change the site has seen so far was a newsletter blasting
dubturbo, which is.... BAD

maybe he just listened to 2/3 of the members and decided to
leave it as-is. that's my vote.

i think it's easy to forget this board has been running
solidly for over a decade. a few bad mustard seeds aside,
it's a fun little hotdog stand, and i didn't feel right
refusing when the plate came around, even if i sort of
suspected this is how things would pan out.

been using pirated copies of ohmboys, ohmforce, and
predatohm for years. i pirated them when i was a poor
student, and i might consider a legal copy at this point.

1) Log In.

2) Do some moderating.

3) Repeat 1 and 2 regularly.

At least post a pic of the drugs bought with the donation
money that was meant for xlt v 10.7, to let those who
contributed know that they were loved. Or post a
heartwarming, wine-drinking scene with Phobz and Mr.
DUBturbo; candle light glistening in the background like
stars.
