I can live comfortably for about £20 a day anywhere in
western Europe, living off the back of a motorbike and wild
camping. That includes fuel and the average "cost per day"
of servicing and repairs to the bike.

If I'm hiking, I can decrease that to about £12 a day, but
then it just feels like you're homeless, rather than having
an adventure.

Incidentally, based on those figures I just gave:
On foot, I need £4380 per year.
On bike, I need £7300 per year.

Assuming I live another 55 years (I'm 30) and have access to
a savings account that matches inflation perfectly and all
other things remain equal; that means I need:
On foot, £240,900.
On bike, £401,500.

I've known a small number of people who've taken "the long
ride" on a bike, but most seem to tire of it after about 10
years. Coming back to normal life would be a hell of a
culture shock, probably as bad as coming out of prison for a
long time.

Go for an Amex Platinum, they're the only one with no
theoretical upper limit.

What's "the long ride?" Is that a route through Europe?

"The long ride" is a term used to refer to saying, "Fuck
it", quitting your job, selling your house and material
things, other than your bike and camp gear (and whatever
else you can carry on your bike) and setting off riding
around the world, with no discernible end date, plan for
retirement, or whatever.

In survivalist/Galt terms, it can be seen as "cashing out"
of society and making hay while the sun shines.

screen every month and feed on gravels.
