SAWII | Why?

|REFLEX| from Western Canada on 2001-06-27 21:12 [#00011100]

I recently played both SAWII discs back to back and I love
this album so much. I always have I guess. My favourite song
is Rhubarb! I like it because it has this overwhelming
feeling of warmth, something like that. Playful and warm.
Tell me your fav track and why.

Richard from MIR-spacestation on 2001-06-27 22:08 [#00011111]

love it too, saw2 is the fukkin best music ever made on our
earth.
stone in focus is my favorite, it as warmth and a nostalgic
feeling, like someone lookin back at his childhood.or
something.

|REFLEX| from Western Canada on 2001-06-27 22:15 [#00011115]

Woah, that was good!! Tassells is an AMAZING song!! Its
fucking scary as hell, and sounds so inetersting, its such a
good album. Lichen has that nostalgic feeling for me as
well.

hevquip from an egren's coffe shop on 2001-06-27 23:03 [#00011121]

assuming rhubarb is track 3 on disc 1, then i love that
song. it actually almost makes me feel sad and i think of
all those things that could have happened, but didn't.

Aron? from Canada on 2001-06-27 23:55 [#00011124]

I like Litchen, that's a super, super beautiful song.
Rhubarb is also very nice!

dandylionesstrogenocide from io on 2001-06-28 00:15 [#00011125]

I love Rhubarb as well...It sounds all peaceful but then
sort of sad all at once...Blue Calx and Parallel Stripes are
both favorites of mine...They sound very distant, and
bright...like something in a dream...Theres something really
akward and unfamiliar about 'em...Like being somewhere
beautiful you've never been before...

poe from the uk on 2001-06-28 00:15 [#00011126]

dandylionesstrogenocide , i have had that feeling with a
leftfield song...

clobe smith from over here on 2001-06-28 01:04 [#00011130]

i love lichen (which i think i said before somewhere else)
and hexagon is great too. saw2 is great just to listen to
or just to have in the background while you're working or
whatnot.

(are the song titles official, or just something someone
came up with?)

-a from u.s.a on 2001-06-28 02:01 [#00011142]

Disk 1, track 4: Tree

beautiful

map[warp/rephlex-aholic] on 2001-06-28 07:37 [#00011165]

i just take my MD, walk on the "geister-wald" mountain i
walk & walk higher, at the end i see the whole town...i sit
down....screw a happy stick....take up my headphones and
listen to: Cliffs, Rhubarb, Parallel Stripes, Blue Calx...

|REFLEX| from Western Canada on 2001-06-28 07:43 [#00011167]

CobeSmith: Yeah, the track names are [I think] official.
Since the pictures are supposed to represent a specific
song, then yes. For the reason being that each pic is what
the song is called. I dunno I think im right. SAWII is
awsome.

|REFLEX| from Western Canada on 2001-06-28 07:44 [#00011168]

Heh.. Cobe.. Clobesmith.

dandylionesstrogenocide from io on 2001-06-28 07:56 [#00011170]

Poe,
I have not heard of leftfield...what kind of music are
they?...

H3XAN3 [C6H14] from Melb. on 2001-06-28 13:26 [#00011200]

leftfield = dark tribal dub

poe from the uk on 2001-06-28 14:37 [#00011221]

yeah, some good chillin' tracks, some nice ones, new album =
crap, leftism = good, I find the track, see wether you
people agree

H3XAN3 [C6H14] from Melb. on 2001-06-28 14:41 [#00011224]

hey poe:
leftism=mainstreamish, but good
rhythm&stealth=wicked, heaps better. how can you dismiss it?
(rhetorical)

Chrispy from a small set of Islands called the UK on 2001-06-28 14:44 [#00011225]

I cant say I can choose which one I like the best there
mates. Pretty hard!

rubbish john on 2001-06-28 15:19 [#00011238]

cd 1, track 1, whatever the fuck it is or isn't called.
poe - regarding your comments on leftfield, i am actually
gonna agree with you here.
i think H3XAN3 (C6H14) or whatever is talking shit, -
compared to leftism, rhythm&stealth is rather poor.

I think it's got some great tracks but many of them are just
plain boring.. one sound looped over an over for like 5
minutes. Why would I want to listen to that?

offline purlieu from Leeds (United Kingdom) on 2003-11-26 12:50 [#00966764]

Because it sounds nice? :P
Man, I can't get enough of this CD. It's really hypnotic and
atmospheric... to the extent where I feel like I'm really
there, something which 99% of music I've ever heard fails to
do.
Rhubarb, GRASS, Curtains, Blur, Weathered Stone, Windowsill,
Lichen, Matchsticks.
My favourites, anyway.

if Rhubarb was played through huge speakers over a riot,
everybody would stop fighting and look up to the enormous
ship brodcasting the pacifying sounds and say, "aww..."

that's what i think about that song anyway.

think)

yeah, it's a great album. i always wondered what some of the
sound effects would sound like though if they blossomed into
full songs. the 'radiator' remix by aphex on '26 mixes' kind
of demonstrates that.

all of saw 2 is really good
I listened to it while under the influence of psychedelic
drugs, and it was one of the most defining moments in my
life
I also listened to plastikman's "musik"
also very life changing
before I listened to saw 2, my mind was like soup
but afterwards, my mind was like a steel trap, with the
bloody foot of aphex twin inside of it

yeah bryce, I'm there with you (and you know what I'm
talking about).

I'm pretty sure that psilocybin came into being millions of
years ago with only one purpose... so that we could boil us
some mushy tea to go with saw II.

xtal is one of my favorite aphex tracks, but saw2 is the
better of the two albums. If you like to play favorites.

similar material but the only stuff that seems to come close
for me is brian eno.

think) from tri repetae

other than that i think its fucking great, unique, sometimes
haunting and emotionally evocative at all times

Is that the one that repeats and repeats and repeats and
repeats and repeats and repeats and repeats and repeats and
repeats and repeats and repeats and repeats and repeats and
repeats the exact same phrase with weird speaking samples?
I used to hate that, then one day it clicked.
