Firewire 410 with Windows 7 = poop?

Hello,
Has anyone else had unbearable problems with the M-Audio
Firewire 410 in combination with Windows 7? (Other relevant
info: I use the small firewire cable and so an extra power
adaptar.)

There's artifacts in the sound and eventually the sound
drops altogether. Sometimes I have to reinstall the drivers
after that. All in all it then equals poop.

i guess i should try the xp thing, maybe as a VM. thanks
freqy

reinstall could also work, yes

the problem of course could also be the combination of my
laptop with the device. so hardware.

i could and should try it on another pc. but it did indeed
work fine before, on my other PC, with a big Firewire cable.

the Firewire thing is build in, so I think not

maybe a firewire to usb adapter is a possibility, i'm now
thinking

cant you get an express adaptor or cardbus thing?

usb to firewire sounds bad for latency

Yea, that's an option.

Maybe I'll just buy another sound device. (I know someone
that would want this one.)

with a delta lt messing with bios options

Right, I'll probably have to install a 32 bit OS if I want
to fix this. I'm pretty sure this is the cause.

i think the sane strategy is to just keep your old PC
running XP and run 7 on your new one

or, if you want to know what it feels like to be raped with
a telephone pole, try windows 8

you can add unbutu at the end, it just installs itself over
the top of whatever you got and gives a menu at boot up to
select your OS's

ubuntu is great for the intersnets

All I can set in my bios are
CPU C3/C6 support (which is now enabled)
Intel Virtualization Technology (which is now disabled)

I have a VAIO.

I guess I'm just screwed then. On this laptop anyway.
