Well let me tell you what you think about this. Sometimes you simply have to play a role, setimes you can't simply tell the "truth" to another person. It is rude. Also, a certain role or fakeness gives you the oppertunity to do things you wouldn't do otherwise. It is a show you put up and everyone knows this, but they might enjoy your performance. Also an oppertunistic person and or a liar, could as well be very authentic if he believes being a liar is a good thing. Also, to be really authentic you can't just live a life without human contact. To be authentic you must go out and confront other people with your values, opinions, needs and beliefes. So there you have it. |

i call that "compartmentalization" -- when someone can't handle the truth for one reason or another (i.e. it'd be rude). it ain't good or bad, it just is -- just a fact of successful human interaction. morality comes back into play when you decide where to place the walls. i might tell some old tart at a party she looks nice and it'd be a lie intended to make us both happier, but if her fly is open that's not something i could just lie about. she'd get get an FYI and an XYZ |

Well it is better not to expect anything. If you expect and want people to behave in a certain (because thats how you see the world or manage things) you will most likely to get dissapointed. I try not to be to hard on people, because most likely that will lead to dissapointment and stress. |
