i guess im just pissed off that a webcomic/meme has gotten more money than ill ever see in my life from thousands of people (teenagers). i think im also using this as an example of how baffling these times seem to me

mspaintadventures has been a powerhouse for i can't even remember how many years. it's not like a wave of cash broke down his front door seconds after he picked up the crayons. don't let the drawing style trick you into thinking this came easily/overnight/etc.
in any case, it's full of references targeted at those who grew up in the 90s; maybe that's your problem

I had never seen/heard of mspaintadventures before today, but looking at it, it's entertaining enough and the person behind it is clearly talented. I can think of less deserving recipients of the money.
AMPI MAX: With regards the $800,000. Consider the following four points.
1. That's less than £500,000. 2. You will, unless you choose to never work AND have the lowest possible entitlement to benefits, almost certainly see more money than that unless you die at a relatively young age.
3. Irrespective of what you do at the moment, you live in a country in which if you had the talent and/or willingness to work hard, you could make that sort of money relatively quickly. Most people on earth really will never see that sort of money, nor have the opportunity to earn it, irrespective of their talent and how hard they work
4. It's not like that money is half a million to blow on coke and whores: It costs money to develop a game. Even if the person behind it is a true one man band (who can program, draw and score the game himself), there will be costs for development kit, test environments, hosting for servers, etc. He will also find that people who gave of their time to "help out" when it was a solo indie affair, will suddenly want money if they continue to be involved. It sounds like a lot, but trust me (I worked in a software house for the best part of a decade) £500,000 is not a large sum of money to fund software development, particularly if it's going to run on multiple platforms.

no well thats the thing i can basically tell its not utter shit i mean this guy has been making this for 3 years or something. its probably a labour of love and i can respect that. its just i suppose im focusing on the attention this things gotten in a negative way because im starting to feel like the core market out there is really youtube/twitter/cloud based
i feel like today you cant make a silent hill you have to make a
slender i dont really hate the 90s thing. look i cant hate people for liking the stuff they like and homestuck fandom is probably well deserved. but i can now sort of imagine $1m being cloud funded for some brony mmorpg and i think thats the kind of vibe im bitching about today.
on the other hand im talking about this because i find it encouraging and sweet that something with pretty humble beginnings has been massively supported by thousands of people. $800.000 in 2 days is pretty astonishing

i was looking at it as $800.000 spent on a meme. on omegle people were either typing OMG HOMESTUCK or WHO IS YOUR FAV PONY TO CLOP TO and on first impressions a while back this homestuck thing seemed pretty fag ykno im still not entirely convinced otherwise. but its not just a meme and has been going a while and its apparently supposed to develop into really interesting shit so i cant hate.
yah £500.000 is not a lot for a computer game its just a lot to have been cloud sourced in 2 days. like i said i thought this was going from silly webcomic to computer game in 2 days.
i'll never have £500.000 to do some cool shit btw. i put that down to not being very enterprising so i think i will shut the fuck up about everyone else doing cooler stuff than me:)

I also don't really like the cloud direction either. I think it's amazing people working alone still put out Spectrum and Atari games in traditional media and people still buy them.
I think Kickstart's main difference is more democract than a load of suits deciding what the kids want, which is probably a good thing (for the kids at least). I do agree, however, it does show up how poor most people's taste is.

AMPI MAX, I really like your D^vid Firstly musics.
It has been about the only stuff I have consistanty come back to listening to in the past few months.
Put your energies into some more of that please.
And DO NOT read YouTube comments. They are the worst thing in the world. Reading them makes me me angry for some reason.
Maybe I'm getting old and do not get the youth of today with their fear of FULL STOPS/PERIODS.
If they do use them, they shoot them all out at the end of what mess they have just typed so you can place them yourself.........
But anyways Your Music is great. Even better that it is free for the taking/listening to.
Keep indoors and SURVIVE.
