RUS - CZE
4:1 (2:0) - wow! instead I should've opted for that match
last night

even when someone does win a cup or competition it means
nothing coz the football, the next competition, just starts
all over again seemingly immediately. when someone wins a
championship they should be the champions for 4 years or
more, not just for one day, then the rest of us could be
offered other sports (to not watch either). sorry so
negative, what i mean to say is personally i prefer sports
that push the limits of human capability, setting records,
sports with more sportsmanlike supporters and less nazi's or
alcoholics.

after watching those commies i have no doubt that this euro
will end for poland in the group stages.

oh well - at least they will be able to watch some good
matches afterwards and learn something.

France-England in a bit.

to quote Ceephax "wow, that was too emotional. let's do it
again"

After first goal I thought it would end 2:0 or 2:1 for
England. After France woke up - I don't know what to expect.

1-1 was a good result. I see the partnership of Rooney &
Welbeck taking England far into the competition if they can
get a good result in their next game.

And Chelsea beat them in the semi final to end up being the
european champions! I thought he would have at least moaned
at me for how it's all very unfair etc..

Come on catflap! Football threads here need you at all
times.

I still hate you.

Ouch Holland got owned. Two games two defeats. The Euro
always has surprises like this.
I think their only chances of going through is if Germany
beat Denmark and they beat portugal by with by at least 3
goals.

Polish fans have been officially warned that if they cause
any trouble during euro 2012, they will be deported back to
the UK.

apparently the Dutch team are having ego problems...
Only Sneijder seems to be trying really.

I think it's typical. They're always a team so full of
talent. But they lack the 'warrior' aspect.

Couple of possible problems:
1. Not all of them seem in shape. There's quite a bunch of
them looking like sausage rolls, if you catch my draft.
2. The internal hierarchy of the team has changed a bit over
the last couple of years, but the team hasn't grown with
this new reality. (It's hard to explain what I mean, I
guess). Example: there's two top scorers in the team. One of
the English league and one of the German league.
3. The coach lacks the balls to deal with 2. and 1.

Germany were doing well
Then somehow Greece were level for a while
Before Germany dominated, leaving Greece well behind, hoping
the Germans would do them a favour.

Then Germany also beat Greece at Football.

you mean in 2010 final?

well it was a tougher match for spain no odubt about it, but
you have to understand, it is very difficult to play
football when the other team is allowed to play karate.
howard was disgracefull, and the funny thing is dutch
players complained about the refereeing.

van bommel and de jong shouldnt have even played the second
half

but considering the referee and his mistakes as part of the
game, it is true that netherlands executed a perfect plan
and the only possible one to have a chance

everything went as they planned up untill they had their two
chances with robben, and he missed them... after that spain
finally took control of the game, specially in the extra
time, where they had several chances apart from the goal

it is true though, that the goal came after a corner not
conceded to netherlands, and it was indeed a corner. it is
also fact that the goal was perfectly inside (no offside as
complained by dutch players)

offline nacmat on 2012-07-03 20:32 [#02436882]
Points: 31271 Status: Lurker

but all in all... the only way to beat an inform spain
nowadays is to display a perfectly organiced defense all
over the field, trying to put preassure in spanish midfield,
leading the game to a very phisycal fight, with lots of
contact, trying to intimidate spanish little players, as far
as the referee allows you to.

this is what netherlands did better than anyone so far
(portugal 2012 came close but in a totally legal way)

spain had had some bad matches due to low form of some of
its players, and italy played really well all tournament, I
think they forgot what spain was capable of with space. they
were very confident in their game, but that was their
mistake, because spain had one more day of rest and it
showed in the final, as italians couldnt keep up with the
preassure, and spain soon found the way to break their
defence time and time again

Torres scoring at the Nou Camp in the semi-final of the CL
is surely one of my favourite football moments ever.

true, some players were playing karate and Robben should
have scored from one of his two chances. Anyway: congrats.
Hope we'll meet again in the next final! :-)

that was a sad moment for me, but one has to admitt that
chelsea deseved it.
it was a huge fight and surviving barça at cam nou was
incredible.

I was very sad that day, but then I could feel happy for
chelsea and great champions like terry, lampard, drogba and
of course spanish players torres and mata

I doubt spain can keep this level, but of course it would be
a pleasure to meet netherlands again. always tight matches.

if spain cannot win in brazil I would love netherlands to
win, I ve always been a fan of the orange team. and they
deserve it... I mean 74, 78, 2010... its about time they
have some good luck

Thank you! Here i am trying to wind you up a bit and you go
all nice!
I guess your team still has plenty, plenty more trophies in
the cabinet, especially european cup/CL.
But yeah Chelsea, it was like it was written. By christmas
it was terrible and no fan would have bet on any trophy, let
alone the big eared one! I will never forget the saga that
was 11/12 for Chelsea!
Andre Villas Boas at Tottenham!! Crazy world.
