it's art.

art is an extension (and a culmination) of human thought and
expression, made possible through our use of complex
language.

art has faults, like everything else man-made. we are all,
after all, "human, all too human".

now, shut the fuck up and eat what you're given asshole.

tl:dr but i get your point.

problem is that this isn't really the artists' fault but
rather the consumers'. there is just such a high demand for
quality right now. you pay a lot for your concerts - you
want "the perfect experience". it gets you in a horrible
state where you start throwing out any artistic live element
out of your set being afraid it might crap out.

the worst thing is that instead of being booed at for your
lack of investment you are being prais for delivering such a
great performance. and you start to get into the loop.
actually not tryingto make a star or something out of myself
but the mentioned stuff is exactly why i stopped doing
livesets - because i was unable to deliver a conistent
live-set which would be really live yet still stable and
interesting for the viewer.

it's a sad trend. look at all those "big" names. david
guetta plays from playback. amon tobin plays the same set
from cd's on a tour getting 10k on a single gig. justice
play from midi controllers which aren't even plugged in and
skrillex, well don't get me started.

problem is that i'm afraid that most of the "really great
performances" are also all fake like the legendary daft punk
pyramid stuff. i mean if they did it live then full on
respect but taking two truck loads of synths onto the stage
doesn't make your appearance more live. i've seen the
chemical brothers live with a rack of analogs in the back
which they touched in moments where there were no changes in
the music, just sample loops.

now you face a kind of big problem. as you are doing jack
shit to your music and you can't stand just around for an
hour you start to think of ways to either cover yourself at
all or at least take of the attention of the viewers.
visuals are always great. bright, musically controlled
visuals. yup. look at this shit. if that drop in 1.34
doesn't make you moist nothing will ever again.

it just makes me so sad looking how much unnecessary
movements this goddamn goofball does on stage that do FUCKIN
NOTHING to the music. this set is 100% prerecorded. i tried
live-syncing with several vj artists and it's impossible to
make such accurate drops every goddamn time.

squarepusher is fake too. look how much he waves his hands
during the show. like he has nothing better to do. would be
funier to just wank yourself under that booth. maybe he even
does.

well as long as people are okay with that it's fine. i'm not
going to see sp as a protest. a lot of will go anyways
because they now shit about making music and will thing he
just shits out snare rushes on the fly.

i'll rather wait for someone who has the balls to make
something cool live. look at motherfucking tim exile. his
laptops craps out at least once every gig. and what ? it
even makes his show better. or i go see someone from
raster-noton again when i want something with flashy music
controlled visuals but still done on the fly.

Ha! I was just about to recommend you seeing Tim Exile. Have
you seen him in Wroc³aw where he supposedly used gear
collected around the city due o his own having been lost by
Lufthansa?
