"The end of music"

I believe our brains are wired only to certain patterns to
listen and enjoy, thats why certain people cant find new
music to listen. What is your opinion about music now and
music "then"?

I mean subjective end

probably the end due to frustration or stubbornness. there
is more music than anyone could possibly digest in a
lifetime. patience is a virtue and rewards are worth waiting
for.

That is good point. I believe you right. But is it worth to
spend time for music search and get spiritual reward? I can
spend my time studying certain important things. How to know
your path then?

music is like colours and paintings..your path is to find
out about 'painting' in music i guess

Yeah, I found quite a bit of music i liked this year.

In fact some of the recent electro-acoustic analogue-synth
1960 era experimental stuff would have had me way stoked a
year or two ago.

Somehow the zeitgeist did not materialize. The musicians
have it but they are not their somehow.

If I look around seems the zeitgeist is indie rock meets the
song writer type stuff

Somehow i blame the "economy" a need for some kind of lead
belly I'm down with Dillinger type vibe.

Not that money is necessary but people are worn out and
people are looking for something that matches the view.

i just got back from a holiday in Thailand and l came soo
close to shagging a ladyboy!

Looked like a lady, walked like a lady, talked like a lady,
kissed like a lady!.....It was only when she drove me to her
place and reversed the car into the garage first time l
thought to myself ''fuckin hang on a minute ...''

In the 60s , they said the beach boys were the highest point
that music could ever evolve to.

Whether there have been higher points is relative /
subjective and as there are no musical "absolutes " , is it
right to say only one persons view on music is the correct
one ?

I tend to think the highest point was Kraftwerk " The model
"

Best thread I have read in a long time!

I find my musical taste to evolve constantly and stuff that
I loved ten years ago I can't stomach now.

top jokes, I'm using them!

i disagree with opening statement. doesnt apply to me at
least. do you like what you know? (common) or do you like
what you don't know? (rare). there's something good in
everything if you look hard enough.

offline 2ndMOUSE from Belfast (United Kingdom) on 2012-01-21 09:57 [#02427670]
Points: 113 Status: Regular

i agree with that diamondtron.....just because you or I
makes idm....it doesn't mean there aren't elements in heavy
metal or classical that can be used.
I've done chinese idm , chopped up classical idm and
spaghetti western idm.

The only limiting thing is our imagination , and as long as
our imagination is still imagining "brave new worlds" then
music ( expression) will never die.

It's 2012. Music won't be the only thing with a definitive
ending.

offline RussellDust on 2012-01-21 17:39 [#02427685]

The End Of Music.. i can't see it. Humans like music and
like making music. We tend to like to make sense of
patterns. It can be greatly pleasing. Like a reward. It
won't stop 'till we go. And even then..it can be complicated
depending on the exact definition one has.

As for 2012.. People should take five to read about the Maya
calendar. The end of it all my arse. What is it with humans
and the end of the world? Even the apocalypse is regarded as
being the end of something and the start of something else.
Not the End Of Everything.

Where would electronic music be without detroit in the 80's

Where would electronic music be without london in 90's

Where would electronic music be without berlin in the
2000's

Where are we now? Soundcloud, Facebook, Youtube?

Where is the underground?

I don't think we're der now.

If apex twin released I care because you do today would it
matter?

Does Planet MU have it's finger on the jugular?

When will like a g6 die?

Where would you be without YOUR DAD?

The underground is underground.

I feel really clever today.

On a tangent though, what would be before the beginning of
music?
Would there be humans? Have humans been making drawings
before they make music? When did they start to make fire and
was that before music? When did music start to exist? Did it
exist even before humans?

Where are the qrter claps when you need them? Steve made a
gudden.

taking_the_piz: it's very possible that music can exist
without human beings isn't it? Yet again it begs the
question of a proper definition. Anything can be music to
anyone. Does it all depend on the recipent? Take it away and
is it still music? As long at it involves the ears maybe? My
dog hears me with his eyes.

Sorry steve, just joining in.

If music is an art form to human beings then i suppose you
could argue that if you take us out of the equation it is no
longer music. But it's not the way i like to see it. Ok i'll
STFU.
