No one mentioned the new Zelda. I know it's not as good
looking as pc/ps3/360 stuff but i've read really nice things
about it. I'm hesitating. Anyone played it?

i started playing batman arkham asylum a few weeks ago and
i'm still loving it. so maybe arkham city is the game of the
year

portal 2 was great, but imo it could have been more
experimental, with more innovations then just the paint
things.

the third game i played this year was fall out new vegas.
that was cool, i especially enjoyed caesar's legion and that
bad ass legate lanius.

I quite like the aesthetics but it looks as condescending as
a modern Zelda title can be :[

Portal 2 was Portal - elegance + dumb story bullshit.

2011 games I remember liking uh, Limbo was pretty great.
Radiant Historia was alright I guess.
GIRP obviously! What a fantastic game.

Top 5 big name 2011 games I haven't played, dunno:
1. Dark Souls
2. Super Mario 3D Land
3. Catherine
4. Marvel vs. Capcom 3
5. i don't know maybe L.A. Noire but it looks kind of dumb

Marvel vs Capcom 3 is masterful in its stylization, etc., so
it gets my
used-be-hardcore-fighting-gamer-but-now-mostly-retired vote.

Nope, 360 here.

Darius&horsefactory: I wasn't a fan of Bangai-O HD, I much
preferred the original.

hmm, I'd agree the DS one was better, but apart from not
being able to select your weapons on each level I'd say it's
pretty much more of the same... which, with bangai-o, can
only be a good thing.

bip: I also have microsoft "X" box

addendum: I haven't played the n64 version, so maybe it is
better than the recent ones.

my favourite games of 2011 are all the PSP games I can play
now that the console is cheap and easy to pirate.

wipeout pure/pulse
homebrew music programs like rhythm

and all the old psx games I can emulate on the psp such as:
ghost in the shell
gungage
threads of fate
future cop lapd

I've started playing Arkham City on my ancient PC yesterday
- basically means I have to throw a bucket of water over the
thing every 60 seconds so it doesn't melt through the
floor.

Only played about an hour, it seemed nice. Wish my PC could
handle Skyrim, though - the world would be dead to me, which
is always nice. (Same goes for The Witcher 2, btw.)

My favourite game this year might be Dungeons of Dredmor, on
Steam. It runs on just about everything, is very funny, and
is very addictive, without all of that hardcore gamer-y
bullshit that seems to have infested a lot of indie PC
gaming lately (I'm looking at you, The Binding of Isaac,
although I do actually like that game too).

Portal 2 was lovely, can't ever be as incredible as the
first game, but does a very good job anyway (my favourite
exchange - SPOILERS! - lemons ).

Atom Zombie Smasher is fantastic. It has weirdness, it has
funniness, it has zombies. And it's by Robert Yang, who can
only get better and better. Seems this game is sadly
overlooked.

Most disappointing? Bulletstorm, perhaps. Looked like it
could be fun, turned out to be rather boring, the game
giving me little incentive to try out new combo's.

Most overpraised if you ask me? Probably Deus Ex: Human
Revolution. Don't get me wrong, a fun game certainly, but
not nearly as mindblowing as some reviews and online
discussions seem to think.

Woah, woah. I just now realized that "Don't take it
personally, babe, it just ain't your story" is a 2011 game,
and it is absolutely the best 2011 game and I love it and it
is amazing.
Seriously holy shit it rules.
