Rephlex knows virtually nothing about this artist. We discovered him via internet forum rumours a couple of years ago. All our communication has been very sporadic and unusual. We know his name but are not allowed to disclose it. All we can say about his location is Europe. We think he Rephlex Press Release. probably makes music using a computer but we’re not sure. We don’t think he’s released anything before. But the kids love it! & so do we. One might say that it has elements of electroacoustic sound sculpture colliding with fierce drum and bass rhythms but this wouldn’t really be describing it too well. i remember rephlex. they used to be a record label, like warp. they used to release like some good stuff. aphex is too busy trying to perfect his jamie oliver impression. |

look at their discographies, rephlex and warp were never really alike. one of the owner's of rephlex and some other artists later signed to warp, that's all. e.g. look at the last dozen releases on each label. you're a hater coz you're jealous that you didn't get signed. |

This is the only release I would be able to call "braindance" without having second thoughts. Those samples scream quality. There are moments were the style is different to anything by Aphex Twin or Squarepusher (or whoever you want to compare this to). I missed music like this. |

to be fair to the label, i think they are telling the truth. i don't think it's 'rephlex anonymity stories'. the last releases, dwayne omarr, TCM, zwischenwelt, monolith are not anonymous. are you talking about 2 or 3 releaes out of over 200? the distribs/shop/magazines demand a press release. rephlex try to say what they can but it's xlt and watmm that do the rest mainly. anyway, they told us it was a young kid from europe, what more do you want, genetic code, family photos? who cares who made it, just listen, or not. |
