help me out lads

white noise> 2 parallel VCAs+ad env >highpass filter 1000Hz

sounds mor like a snare

try slightly desynchronizing each noise source so you get a
flam type effect?

what modular is it?

analogue machines modular

looking on cooledit at a proper clap
it should be 3 small decaying parts the one longer decaying
part
the long decaying part is ok but the 3 shrt decaying parts
(the flam) is where4 it's going wrong

Just trigger it multiple times, like in the TR-808 service manual's des-cription of
how its clap works. Your description of what you're using
sounds like it should be pretty good once you do this. All
that's missing, most likely, is making it sound like several
people clapping almost, but not quite, in unison, which is
what the multiple triggering simulates.

I'm not entirely sure how to automate the multiple
triggering in the modular itself (multiples and Doepfer
A-162s?), but you can always just draw multiple notes in a
DAW, in very quick succession, play that to your modular
using a MIDI to CV converter, and then sample the result.

PS to the xltronic web developer: banning links with the
word "script" in them isn't the best security measure.

you need noise + an oscillator, and more besides.
sample one and have a look at the waveform.
simmonds analog clap trap did it quite well, have a look how
they did that.

It works if you'd have like a module that can send out
delayed pulse. Couple of multiples and you can clap clap
that proper.

In theory, never tried it.

How about:

LFO on the volume of the noise through VCA, loop that
through another VCA and have a very short decay on that so
you can catch atleast like three frequency sweeps off the
LFO, and perhaps if the LFO has this function, make the LFO
reset on every gate signal coming from the
sequencer/keyboard.

Or noise through a filter and modulate that through LFO

Can't be done.

A snare is a decent starting point for a synthesised clap.
You need it a bit higher pitched than a snare, I find a
slightly gentler attack and tail help too. Layering slightly
different versions very slightly out of time with one
another helps too. My ears always process this as a "stacked
clap" than a load of snares.

the amp env on most drum machine claps is like
|\|\|\......
cos its like loads of hands clapping at once, or 1 hand
clapping in a weird echoey place ?
thats half the battle ?? how can u do that on a modular

nice use of claps.

the clap sample comes in @ 1min16/17.

the clap sample is from an old severed heads track.

white noise> 2 parallel VCAs+ad env >highpass filter 1000Hz

1 AD env is gate delayed

ne1 got a demo version of waldorf attack vst?

This thread is thoroughly excellent.
I don't think anyone mentioned it, but Sound on Sound
magazine's Synth Secrets is wonderful for this sort of
stuff:

Who's that guy who has done pretty amazing drum sound
synthesis patches for 1 of the waldorf HW synths.. or was
it... - acoustic, and all the set .... i saw/heard it on
matrixsynth ages ago..
actually it could have been Nord synth

just put a mic into your modular's filter and clap into it

im stuck on the initial clicking part
it sounds like clicking when it should be more like a splat

the amplitude shape is like \ \ \ when the ampenv should be
more varied/random and with a trailing part at the end like
\ /\ |\ |-----\

the reverberating part sounds fine

ive checked dubstep forums etc and funnily enough on every
thread that shows up on google nobody has had full success

drumatic VST does the job alright but i cant understand how
they did the clicking part, it doesn't seem very clear

it's actually quite fun to not get the answer straight away
and have to experiment a lot, im pretty sure the answer to
this problem is very simple though

maybe there's a simple reaktor 5 patch out there
