Buying a digital field recorder

I've been thinking about buying a digital field recorder
and was hoping for some input from the board. Any tips to
get the best value? The Zoom H2n and the
Roland R-05 are both within my price-range but I wonder
if there are any other brands and models I should consider.
It's imperative that the sound is good and that it is easy
to use and easy to hook up to my computer via usb.

So, any thoughts?

ive got a zoom H2 (new design looks cooler!) and im quite
satisfied with it, specially with its buildin mics, really
high quality recording and lots of possibilities
(90/120/360º). Inside options also fucking cool
(compressor, noise rduction, diferent types of gains...). i
have just some complains about external microphone use (what
i first bought it for, binaural-stereo input), i get a bit
of noise and it sucks a bit (but maybe its the wire, i just
got one with minijack ending, havent checked with another,
but happening with all microphones).

checking specifications of boths machines, apparently they
are almost the same thing. H2 cant record as MP3, R05 cant
have 360º 4 channel recordings. without havent checked R05,
i would say H2 is slightly better as it is a bit more
versatile for different kind of recordings

Thank you for your insight, melack. I ended up getting
the Zoom H4n and I love it. I'm just getting started but
this is the piece of equipment I need. I'll probably spam
this site later, so beware...
