okay, this makes me angry im still a student. we had an exhibition organized from the university in berlin. i borrowed a camera from the universtity to document the stuff, and make a documentation about my performance. the exhibition was an art fair, so u could mostly see people who were interesed in money, or interested to buy themselves some boring art that they can show around to their burgeouise friends. it has cost me so much energy to perform in front of those people. because my performance was against everything they were "believing" in. in the end i felt exhausted. then i had to realize that some bastard stole the camera out of a secured room that was there for the gallerists to put their stuff. i talked to the organizers, but their insurance doesnt want to pay. so its all on me. more than 3000 eus. i still hope the insurance from the university can help me out. im reallly pissed right now, cause im all alone with this shit. i should have called the poilice immediatly, danmit!!!! instead i listenend to other people, like the ehibitors who said i should calm down and they will call their insurance. i had to call them 2 times and send 2 e-mails until they were reacting. then they said they cant help me. the people at the university also didnt say what i should do. now its already 4 days later and the police still doenst know about it. i need to tell them tomorrow. ....i really need to grow some balls........cause the whole time it was all about how i should have reacted. and i was too slow. im exhausted and angry at the same time. angry of this bastard thief, of this stupid exhibition that was alla bout money...and angry of myself. i need to work harder on myself, im still such a dreamer. and i dont have anyone who can compensate this with being organised and straight thinking. i need to learn this myself....still. greetz |

First: it's not your fault, but first and foremost the asshole that stole the camera. I'm sorry this happened to you. Second: don't just pay for the camera. Ask which insurance company the gallery has and verify with them a claim was made. Lastly you could consider taking legal action against the gallery, maybe consult a lawyer for this (preferably one that has a free first consult). (I assume the gallery is not owned by the university, because then it would be even weirder you have to pay for it.) |

thanks guys, i will go the the counsel of the university tomorrow. the exhibition was not part of the university. i think i will call them again to ask, what the exact reasons are for not paying. after i asked the counsel about this. im totally broke, i could never pay back the camera. |

hey, did you sign anything when you burrowed the camera? if not, its not like they can claim money for it. also, you left it at some kind of secure storage? how can a storage be secure without being covered by insurance? |

I'm guessing the gallery isn't responding because they're fearing you can hold them responsible. Also I guess that if you had a contract with them for your performance they're even more likely to be in that situation. |

i signed to get the camera... but after talking to the lawyer of the university yesterday, i think they cant make me pay. i didnt do anything wrong. i found out that i have an insurance, that i automatically have as a student who pays student fees. but since i didnt do anything wrong, the insurance might not pay. so the university doesnt get a new camera. and it was the only one in our department. its weird... the lawyer said, that he doesnt want me to cheat on the insurance, but if i would... everything might be fine for both of us. well, i will not cheat, i dont want to get myself into trouble. there were too many people involved. im very bad at cheating, anyway. |
