February 26th sees a rare visit in the North of England from Aaron Funk, the prolific Canadian DJ and producer best known for his ground-breaking work as Venetian Snares. In terms of legends, they don't come much bigger...Funk has released a total of 22 albums (mostly through Mike Paradinas' pioneering Planet Mu label), 20 singles and has been credited by the late John Peel as the man responsible for re-inventing breakcore. His otherworldly sound is hard to place - spanning dark orchestral, hyper-speed jungle and grating noise and often recorded in unusual time signatures such as 7/4 - furious rhythms that still retain a killer dancefloor edge.
