Yes! And I haven't even had the interview for the course
yet!

If going to college is too hard for you, I dont see how
you're going to make it through the rest of your life.
College is easy.

if you have droped out it doesn't matter really, you can
just try again but take your time choosing the right course.
i guess the problem is the massive fee inflation, but you
could always try an open university course or something.
it's a fraction of the cost

I quit after 2/4 years of art school to live with a girl. I
think it was worth it, even though it exploded in my face,
but I did/do miss the art school environment. I miss people
with passion!

Dude, don't do it! :(

Why are you thinking of leaving? I would say do it only if
it is the very, very last resort!

I know a couple who dropped outta uni and now they regret it
massively. All that debt and nothing to show for it.

Plus, uni kicks a lotta ass! :) And there are many people
with passion at uni. Not to say there isn't outside uni, but
people here are young and energetic and hopped up on
knowledge, so it's a cool place to be! Which of course you
know, cos you're at uni.

Anyway, stick it out, don't quit.

Also, even if you think this course is not for you, it
always looks good to an employer, even if the degree is not
appropriate to the job, cos you completed a 3/4 year course!
:)

So what are you studying and why are considering leaving?

That's a stupid thing to say, cos you don't know what
experience he has had. Everyone's differs.

Literally everyone I know my age who attends uni and those
older are all miserable, in debt and even more confused than
me in regards to the future.

I remember having an anxiety attack when I was simply on a
tour.

Am studying psychology. It's a lot of work and my head is
all over the place. I changed course from last year so I
don't know if they will let me have a year out.

In short, I need time to sort out my problems because they
are getting in the way of my ability to perform
intellectually.

If you are in anything but third year, I guess it could be
okay to defer the rest of the course for a year. Thing is,
would you stick to this plan of going back? Something else
might get in the way, then you will have 2 years of uni debt
and nothing to show.

If you don't mind talking about it here, what problems are
you having in your life that are stopping you concentrating
on studies?

go to china.
free pussy, free money, cheap food, cheap travel, friendly
people, good life

last year i met this argentinian guy in osaka that has
been travelling for 5 years. he just travels the world
taking whatever work he can get. he's lived in england,
germany india, thailand, china, japan, singapore, and now
hes in australia working as a roadie. he never got a degree,
but he bought a couple of fake ones in thailand then in
china he used them to get jobs. he worked as an english
teacher and various dishwasher barwork jobs. he dont make
much money and he doesnt eat much but he looks really smart
and wears nice clothes, he aint no marxist hippie that
watches charlie brooker or anything. it's all about image
and presentation, if you look and act like a pro you can
travel anywhere and do anything you want with your life

I think everyone feels like dropping out at time especially
in the 2nd year. Just grit your teeth and get on with it.
You will regret it in the long run if you don't. remember it
is always a bit of headfuck financially and personally.
There is never a perfect time to do anything, just make the
most of a bad thing. remember to try and have some fun on
the way. The world of work is dull, political and endless,
if you are lucky enough to get an awful career job.
traveling afterwards is always a good idea if you can't get
a decent job. Just do one in strange parts of the world.
Your life is in front of you not behind you. chin up fella
:)

I stopped going to community college. I guess you could
call it dropping out, but it is community college and I was
going to be taking photography. Instead they had me in
drawing I drawing paper bags and stools. I tried to ask
this girl out, she was all like yea i dunno, so I didn't go
back. All the time I was driving my aunt mildred's car that
had no air conditioning and am radio only so that was lame
additionally.

I know dude, I was being mean and sarcastic on purpose.

But seriously, I think Id lock my room and never come out to
pass college rather than drop out. Having a degree is pretty
important to me.

Is the course to hard or are you just bored by it? If its
the latter then I have no sympathy for you. Suck it up, my
course is a bitch. Art students complaining about their
course make me lol and facepalm at the same time.

As he said, the problem isn't to do with the difficulty of
the course, it's other stuff going on in his life.

That's what I meant by everyone's experience being
different. It's not really the course which affects how well
people do on it, but external stuff which influences the
person on the course.

But I am gonna shut up now, cos I am beginning to sound a
tad pretentions. I don't really know very much on
person-course dynamics. :P

seem pretty lacks on that where I am. But make sure you tell
them and theyre sort it for you.

Degree's aren't about showing you know so much about a
subject most of the time, unless it's medicine, law or
architecture. Having a degree shows to an employer that you
went the distance, did the work and finished what you
started. It's more about showing that you're committed and
capable than anything else.

Education is a business now, and yes universities will shaft
as much money out of your as possible and there's no
guarantee of a job when you're done either, but having any
degree gives you more life options in the end. Easier to
emigrate, easier to do Master's and conversion courses to
change subject and specialise a few years later if you get a
firmer idea of your future path. Easier to hired and easier
to get promotions. Two more years out of your life when
you're in your 20's is nothing compared to the 60 or so
you're meant to have when you graduate.

There's loads of shit involved (bad teachers, bad
relationships, bad people, bad debt) but the bottom line is
no one cares afterwards. They only look at the number on
your degree.

Go to craigslist and search for the cheapest apartments
around. You may have to move 20+ hours driving distance
away or something. Also if it helps look at the minimum wage
page on wikipedia to see which areas have high minimum
wages. Then get some kick back easy job in some kick back
rural area (I used to survive on my own on minimum wage,
working part time no less) and let the cesspool of large
cities with their university scams and billboards and crime
and pollution sink into its own black hole far far away.

I was wondering, what job do you do?

Tractern: still haven't decided. They haven't kicked me off
yet but am thinking I will take a year out at least.

If I don't come back I'll probably just end up doing
something wMw style

I used to work in some stupid grocery store, bailing
cardboard mostly because society gives the shittier lower
paying jobs to introverts, if anything. I think rent was 400
a month and pay was minimum wage-ish, maybe 30 hours a week,
I forget. I played street fighter or road rash ii on genesis
by myself alllll day and ate cheap ass cereal until I
developed wheat intolerance.

Been there (=uni) too long. Dropped out. Got a job. But
after a couple years went back to get my bachelors. There's
simply too many glass ceilings to try getting somewhere
without some papers. You're either uber-talented, and don't
need papers. Or you're the uber-dork, and even a whole lot
of papers can't help.
I'm somewhere in the middle and make 50k euros a year atm.
Not bad for a pseudo drop-out, I guess.
