my balls, your chin
Newest track from me.
A friend and I are planning on opening our own production studio here in a few months time. (Looking at buying a lot of professional studio equipment come March or sooner.) We plan on producing as Productions by Bray & Jackson, or PB&J.
We have been working together recently, and have come up with about 10 (structurally) completed tracks in the timespan of ~2-2.5 weeks. As of right now, we are currently building a new computer to better handle Ableton.
Most of our recent work was originally to be used with a local hip hop group, though I think that we have decided to keep it mostly instrumental, and perhaps feature a rapper on a couple of the really hip-hop themed tracks.
Anyhow, thanks for listening. I will be uploading a full album for download once it is fully mixed/mastered. Hope you enjoy. =D

Now I remember why I stopped coming to this forum. It's an endless circlejerk of a few select members, with no apparent care for outside input.
Good luck, and I hope your circlejerk results in a coordinated climax for all.

...or maybe you're upset because nobody likes your shitty music. It sounds like the kind of music you hear in an elevator.

If you're spamming tracks, it should be cuz you're so badass that you want others to enjoy the vibe. In that case- if nobody digs it- you're fine in your own badassness. But if you're fishing for compliments, you'd probably have more success playing music for your parents or others who are unwilling to hurt you with potentially negative criticism.
At the end of your original post, you stated "thanks for listening". That means you are thankful towards those who listened-- you stated nothing about wanting comments or criticism. If you're not sincerely thankful for people just listening without comment (listens are confirmed by the soundcloud plays), then don't post "thank you", because it's insulting to those who actually spent the time to listem to your music.
If you want comments... ask for them.

( haha "listem")
And as for the music... it's okay and sounds fun. But the problem with making a melodic bassline the main thematic element, is that a lot of consumer-level equipment won't be able to reproduce it properly, which results in the main theme basically vanishing. This is why it's important to supplement such an importtant bassline with higher octave melodies.

It just needs to be properly mixed to be honest. I don't have great equipment to mix on (as I said, my friend and I will be purchasing really nice equipment ~March), so I have to mix something several times to be close to balanced. Also, I do not yet have any mastering software, and Ableton isn't really built for mastering...
I do appreciate comments though. I suppose I was sort of peeved at the fact that when I post music up, no one seems to care here. I've a wide variety of influences in my music, but electronically it's basically ae, afx, boc, Prefuse 73, Jackson and His Computer Band, Flying Lotus, etc... I guess I must be in the wrong place.
I understand your comment about consumer-level equipment, and I honestly think that it's a matter of mixing well. A lot of lower end audio equipment will certainly miss the lows in the bass, but you should still be able to hear the melody. As for higher octave melodies supplementing the bassline... did you listen to the song? There's 2 string parts, an ambient instrument, and vocal splicing that comes in, all in a higher octaves. :o

It's nothing to do with 'the mix'. It's just boring, that's why nobody has commented.

I think it's a cool song dude I liked it and I liked the muddy sound. Don't mix it better, I'm sure it'll lose something.
Not sure what's up with the title though

Actually, I've already uploaded a more balanced mix. The bass was pretty overpowering in the 1st version.
The title is sort of an inside joke... I don't like trying to figure out a title for most tracks I write. So, instead of taking the "normal" IDM route and calling it asilruhsdrkj, I asked my buddy what he thought of when hearing the track. He jokingly replied, "My balls, your chin".
Thanks for the comments, even from those that think it's "boring".

I think it's pretty okay! One thing I would change is the instrumentation. Some of the instruments sound quite tinny, very MIDI. And I hate the harsh vocal clips toward the end. But the main section is pretty spacy and cool. Keep at it.
bye!
