Tag clouds are just web 2.0 search engine optimization spam. So instead of: my gay topic my gay text you have homo homosexual gay lesbian fag fags etc lots of keywords to search for. But it doesn't actually work. I especially had the particularly web 2.0 ones where the more popular 'tags' are given a larger font, and if you find that the tags graphically cycle around or respond to your mouse hover/movement, close your browser and uninstall flash immediately. The only people who design 'tag clouds' are people who have never been a user of what they're designing, or assholes who only make them for lulz. |
