Making a best of Ae cd..

This is for my bus-ride home from work, so I've left out
some of the more fierce tracks. If you think I should change
something or if I've forgotten some cool Ae tracks, speak
up.

I've got most releases, no Peels or rare shit. Also, this
will be made from my cd's, no mp3 quality crap..and there
will be more than one cd.

trAEck-list so far:
1. Kalpol Introl
2. Bike
3. Eggshell
4. Lowride
5. 444
6. Basscadet (Beaumont Hannant mix)
7. Foil
8. Piezo
9. Nine
10. Vletrmx21
11. Clipper
12. Eutow
13. C/Pach
14. Cipater
15. Nuane
16. Krib
17. Fold4, Wrap5
18. Rpeg
19. Outpt
20. Dropp
21. Zeiss Contarex
22. Pir

RAE!!!!
no ae compilation is complete without it. and i think youll
have to do a double cd comp, cause ive got no idea how all
of those tracks will fit on a 74-80 min cd...

offline CORTEX from Canada on 2002-04-09 20:06 [#00164342]
Points: 3346 Status: Regular

oh yeah, and i wanted to say that i made a lot of ae
compilations. but in the end, they never sound as good a
one of their albums. and dont know why. maybe it's because
they know how to make an album that has an "album feel".
that is all.

I'll just have to multitrack them onto the cd and have them
overlap.

or I could make more than one cd as I said in my 1st
post

I hear ya all about Rae and the other songs. However, the
only song I've added to the list is Garbagemx36.

I would put Yulquen from Amber before Vletrmx21. That way
you get a nice stream of ambient tracks. I like how you
started the cd with the very first track Kalpol Introl.
Very nice :) Very deep *snap snap snap*

offline Paco from Gothenburg (Sweden) on 2002-04-09 20:28 [#00164353]

Kalpol Introl is brilliant and should never be mistaken for
a lowly intro.

I love Corc too. It's very jazz oriented imo and very warm
and intimate with the listener.

When the song starts and the high notes start with the bass
notes for the first time, those first few notes sounds like
you're getting a hug.

very nice...but you should add latent quarter if you
can...oh and leterel
...and cichli perhaps?

offline Crocomire from plante (United States) on 2002-04-10 02:32 [#00164758]

dude to me corc is straight up ice cold hip-hop, you cain't
even fuck wid it it so down pat.

offline CORTEX from Canada on 2002-04-10 02:35 [#00164760]

strange. i dont consider corc as hip-hop at all.

i love the background fuzzy ambient noises in kalpol introl
that remind me like cars on the highway.

what do u consider it then cortex?

do u all even listen to rap? how long have u listened for?
it's obviously hip-hop.

offline CORTEX from Canada on 2002-04-10 02:46 [#00164767]
Points: 3346 Status: Regular

i cant really define the genre that would describe the
track. im not saying that youre wrong, though, just that i
dont see it as "straight up ice cold hip-hop", as you put
it.

offline CORTEX from Canada on 2002-04-10 02:52 [#00164772]

what makes you say it's obviously hip-hop then? and yes, i
listen to hip-hop. been listening nonstop to antipop
consortium's arrythmia since friday.

offline Crocomire from plante (United States) on 2002-04-10 02:57 [#00164776]

hmm. i think my words are misunderstood. by ice cold i mean
solid, down cold, perfect. i might say it's jazzy hip-hop,
but the hip-hop is unmistakable, needless to say it's not
run-of-the-mill hip-hop, it's Autechre hip-hop :)

offline Crocomire from plante (United States) on 2002-04-10 02:59 [#00164780]
Points: 2116 Status: Lurker

what makes me say it's obviously hip-hop? i've been
listening to rap since '85, i know hip-hop. it's the entire
sound, the melody, the sound of the percussion.

offline CORTEX from Canada on 2002-04-10 03:01 [#00164781]

id easily agree with you if you wouldve said that goz
quarter was an ae hip-hop track. it's pretty
"unmistakable". anyway, paco, youve got to include corc on
your compilation now. you are obligated! ;)

offline Crocomire from plante (United States) on 2002-04-10 03:04 [#00164782]
Points: 2116 Status: Lurker

aw man i've never heard goz quarter! nice compilation paco,
it's inspiring.

offline Amonbrune from Vancouver (Canada) on 2002-04-10 03:04 [#00164783]

Corc hip hop? Even a little bit. I would say Autechre make
their 'own' hip hop styles that no one else can do. I
seriously cannot see some guys laying down the cardboard and
breakdancing to it lol!...that just will not happen.

offline CORTEX from Canada on 2002-04-10 03:07 [#00164787]

just for argument's sake, your argument isnt really valid.
the fact that youve been listening to hip-hop for a long
time doesnt automatically mean that you have a greater
"power" of identifying what is hip-hop and what's not. i
believe this kind of logic is called a "sophism".

offline Crocomire from plante (United States) on 2002-04-10 03:09 [#00164789]
Points: 2116 Status: Lurker

no, it's not a bboy anthem that's for sure. lol i can see
the head-bobbing jazzy element too.

offline Crocomire from plante (United States) on 2002-04-10 03:15 [#00164798]
Points: 2116 Status: Lurker

well if you put it that way my arguement isn't valid. but
from an experiential standpoint it is because rap has
changed so much since then, and i may have been exposed to
more of it than you have, i don't know, so i have a broader
base of reference.
