Jand: did you pay it?

I've got a book from Colchester library that I got out about
18 months ago. I wonder what the fine is.

I actually have some mental problem with taking things back
to libraries... ever since I was about 10 and joined for the
first time...

It's cost me loads, probably > £1000..they even threaten
you with Baliffs, the bastards.....(although it does take em
years to track you down....Fucking Essex county council will
find & fine you in the end so be warned..)...

offline jonesy from Lisboa (Portugal) on 2002-04-08 12:53 [#00162220]

Oh dear. I'd better post that book back. Though I don't see
how they'd track me down. Surely they must just write shit
off.

The max fine now per book is a £5 ... but they eventually
take you to court and you have to pay for a)the fines b)the
books c)court costs...

jonesy..max fine is a fiver but if you've moved from Essex I
reckon you'll be alright (altho taking any advice from me
regarding libraries isn't advised..;)..

the most i had was a measley 16 quid-and that was for cd's
from birmingham library. when i asked the ape behind the
counter how long i had to pay he said i didnt-i just wouldnt
be able to borrow from the audio library till it was paid.
damn my luck-i could still choose from 16 copies of 'life
thru a lense' and 4 scratches cd's of 'bat out of hell-the
best of meatloaf' if it wsnt for that pesky 16 quid. suffise
to say the debt remains the same.

They even recognise my voice in the legal dept now when I
phone up so I guess I must be vaugly famous with em...

I actually had to take some back to Braintree Lib the other
day (to get out of paying for the books as well as the
fines) and I pretended to be my older brother as I didn't
want to get any hassle when they saw they were 3yrs
overdue...I should've been an actor coz I ended up having a
long conversation about how slack my little brother was and
how the family had disowned him after his Crack
problems...lol...Their faces were a picture...

My friend actually works in the library and used to wipe my
fines off the computer. I daren't ask her to wipe these as
that's taking the piss really. Besides I want to keep the
book. Its a book about house music and is really good. Good
on equipment.

Uhm, I have some books that I have not returned for about 13
years, and even the library had been closed some 8 years
ago, but i did recieve a letter asking me to return those
books like 4-5 years ago, from a central library. I choose
to ignore it.

one down because no-one was using it. Pah, they don't

but then everyone would pinch the books!! its simple the
more books you read will be rewarded by special 'fellatio'
tickets/tokens so you could get blown by a special sex
machine in every library.

erm...yeah, that's what i think.

A great Idea. It's just that I prolly wouldn't like most of

read a book in their life, lining up just for a blojob... So

i have never paid a library fine because i just don't ever
go back to the library. so far they havenot charged me
anything...

i also have a total of approx 400$ in late fees at about 7
or 8 different Hollywood video stores. I just rent at one
untill i get some huge late fee then i just go get another
membership at a new store.
now i have that netflix thing though so no more late fees
for me.

no no no no no -no cheating-you will be intensively quizzed
by stunning librarian about the books you CLAIM to have
read before you get your 'sucky sucky'/'one off the wrist
cards'-no cheating.

this is to purely cut down on queing times to the proposed
blowing machine.

yeah-machines may be artificial, but id rather get frutty
