Monoid, maybe you should consider
cognitive behavioral ...

I think Cygnus is giving better advice. You're better off
without a psychologist. Even though Cygnus's idea about
reality and subjectivity is silly - because 'reality' and
one's subjectivity form together, there is no schism, it's
all one flow, brah. And there have been severe increases in
mental health 'problems' in europe in recent years, it's not
that some people have pre-disposed tendencies towards these
problems, it's not about individuals, its clearly to do with
the way we live today, we're fucked. People can 'create new
tools' without having to be normalised by a psychiatrist,
read your way out, act yr way out, whatever.

what does a psychiatrist know that you can't find out for
yourself

I was in therapy for almost 2 years. It was bullshit that
did not help, but it was pretty amusing sometimes.

Barcode, a psychiatrist can help you realize that you have
normalized a negative situation, which is sometimes the
reason why people feel shit without knowing why

If you've decided to be a bum, then just be a bum. Stop
fucking complaining about it. Just accept and embrace it,
regardless how high or low others esteem it. It's your
fucking life and it's running out of time as you read this
post, as you complained about it already years ago, and as
you'll keep mulling it over in the coming seconds, hours,
months. Bitching about things does no good. Not to you or
anyone else. Pick something you want and give it all you
got. Life is only as good as you make it.. Whatever will
happen WILL happen. Make it good.

This is an interesting article. :)

Although it does make me sad that I have time for such
fucking stupid things- no job, Summer hols, worrying about
re-submitting assignments in August e.t.c :(

This bit is funny though:

An earlier film by Waters, Desperate Living (1977),
contained a scene in a women's lavatory depicting a
chest-high double glory hole—for breasts.

hehe. I like John Waters films.

Also;

One of several uses of glory hole predating the known use as
sexual slang is from glassblowing, which dates back to 50
B.C. Shown here, a person reheats a glass item with the
"glory hole" being the furnace opening on the left.

lol

"Pick something you want and give it all you got."

YUP. Anything. Even if becoming a unicorn is one's dream,
I sincerely believe one should go for it, else, life just
becomes a result of not actually doing what one wanted,
which results in regret, which finally results in: "I had 50
years to become a unicorn, and I never even tried for 5
minutes. But I did help others attain goals for 8 hours a
weekday, and I watched TV for 6 hours daily- for 50 years-
so I guess my life was... FUCK."

Remember million dollar homepage? That dude sat in his room

WORK.

WORK.

AIMLESSLY LIVING AND BEING BORING.

You just want to keep finding excuses not to grab your balls
and fail/succeed like everyone else. Everyone faces
adversity and failure, either due to cosmic coincidences or
exclusively due to their decisions and actions.

If you really didn't have anything worth living for,
you'd've killed yourself a long time ago. Instead you cling
to life focused on feeling sorry for yourself. IF THERE
REALLY WAS NOTHING WORTH STAYING ALIVE FOR, YOU WOULDNT BE
CLINGING TO LIFE AS YOU'RE DOING.

You don't need perfection to be happy. You don't even need
excuses to be happy. Get the fuck out of your hole and do
something, anything. Then do something else. Eventually
something's going to either please you or piss you off.

Dude, this is not a life and death issue. I am simply to
afraid to kill myself, but death itself is nothing i fear.
If i look at myself or other people i can only see very very
few reasons why they are still alive, because their life is
obviously going nowhere or will even become worse, or is
shit because they have to spend large ammounts of time on a
job they hate, because they were to stupid or ugly to get
something better.

1)If i look at myself or other people i can only see very
very few reasons why they are still alive
Your perception's all fucked up.

2)because their life is obviously going nowhere or will even
become worse,
Bullshit. What are you, an oracle? Do the tea
leaves tell you this? Even in the worst fold of the asshole
of the world would such a definitively pessimistic POV not
make sense for someone who truly yearns for good times.

3)or is shit because they have to spend large ammounts of
time on a job they hate,
Work is important for sure. Without it life is
largely empty. But employment isn't the only kind of work
you can do. And the bit of truth in your rant is that life
is a fucking mess for sure - there aren't any free lunches
and you don't normally get things all cooked and salted out
of the blue; not everyone will have a dream job - fortune of
all kinds is a lottery. What you CAN do is work - that is,
fix the lottery odds a bit to your advantage. The more you
do things you love, the more effective you'll be at this
"work" (whatever it is: employment, hobby, volunteering,
etc) and the fuller and richer and satisfying that (large)
part of your life will be.
Simply giving up before or during or after the fact, because
your employment is (or was or likely will be) frozen dog
shit is self-defeating horse shit of the flimsiest type.

4)because they were to stupid or ugly to get something
better.
Excessively pessimistic premise to this aside, this
above is a truism. It's true for everyone. Everyone fails
to meet their absolute full potential. There's always some
fuckup along the way spoiling things to some degree.
Sitting on your ass feeling sorry for yourself about it does
no good. Whereas giving it all you got and getting banged
up in the process might be a little painful in some
respects, but at least earns a clear conscience and your
efforts bear some (if not lots -again love what you do and
do what you love is most of all you need to know) fruits:
win-

win-win

Also:
"Only politics interests me somehow, but no one really cares
what I think about it anyway. I feel very helpless,
frustrated and unsatisfied"
Symptom there: you put others' esteem above your own. You
sooner do what others approve than what really gives you
wood.

Is it any wonder that you feel helpless, frustrated,
unsatisfied? If all you do is miserably grovel to suck
people's cocks, of course your life is going to be
pointless. The point of life isn't to please others but to
carry a big stick and whack your moles. Success follows
and... no surprise, others will start to "care".

And then you can worry about how genuine and/or meaningful
that "caring". In most cases people don't really
give a fuck anyway.

Monoid philosophy

offline Monoid from one source all things depend on 2010-06-20 23:05 [#02384933]
Points: 11010 Status: Lurker

I have a need for other people to like and admire me, and
yet i tend to be critical of myself. While i have some
personality weaknesses i am generally able to compensate
for them. I have considerable unused capacity that I have
not turned to my advantage. Disciplined and self-controlled
on the outside, I tend to be worrisome and insecure on the
inside. At times i have serious doubts as to whether i have
made the right decision or done the right thing. I prefer a
certain amount of change and variety and become dissatisfied
when hemmed in by restrictions and limitations. I also pride
myself as an independent thinker; and do not accept
others’ statements without satisfactory proof. I have
found it unwise to be too frank in revealing myself to
others. At times i am extroverted, affable, and sociable,
while at other times i am introverted, wary, and reserved.
Some of my aspirations tend to be rather unrealistic.
