lol!

in a way that does show america...those teen sex romp party
comidies are all over the place here...

americans should be feared for the most part, turely a bunch
of hicks, and the backlash that comes form (i mean we
INVENTED school shootings)...even david bowie is afraid of
us...

anyways, when i venture off to bigger and better, i don't
think i'll miss it.

I don't get Seinfeld either. The Sopranos on the other hand
is worth putting up with the rest of American culture for.

lol! seinfield is great...a comedy about nothing
truely...it's probably our modern sitcom verson of monty
python...

but british comedy can majorly suck ass! mostly a bunch of
old rich ppl either retired or working in a dept. store /w
the wemen wanting sex, and the men complaining that their
dicks are to shrivled, and that they don't want to because
whoever's titt's are too small anyways...or that damn bean
guy who's just a polite and pussified "mook" (a mook is a
corporate term used to describe a "tom green" type
demographic...the over abnoxious loud mouth wild dumbass
male)

i did like red dwarf...i watched that series since i was
very little...

nanotech...opposed to american comedy such as f.r.i.e.n.d.s,
oh HOW FUNNY is it when joey goes "HOW YOU DOIN?" or when
one of them accidently eats the wrong pizza, like "OH MY
GOD!"

its rubbish.

offline nazipokemon from nottingham (United Kingdom) on 2002-04-08 11:53 [#00162105]
Points: 215 Status: Lurker

the main thing is, american comedy is too high budget and
the people writing it and the actos dont know jack shit
about being in touch with the people, or something, but
british humour is much more low budget but a hell of a lot
better quality, such as alan partridge, harry hill e.t.c.
they dotn have 15 dressing rooms each, a snack table and
some poncy director.

Or when Monica gets a bit anal.

"Oh no Chandler you rearranged the room. Monica will
freak!"

Pure comedy.

i've only heard of monty python, and MAYBE faulty
towers...(which i'm assuming falls under my old ppl division
of british comedy)...also if british comedy was SOOOOO
great, then why do us americans (who's suposed to be the
scum of the earth with what's going on, and in the minds of
a few board members) only show these gems on our crappiest
public owned/funded stations at our crappiest hours? I
mostly only see this stuff on the public broadcasting
station at like 2:00 am...

doesn't that make it the crap of crap?

offline nazipokemon from nottingham (United Kingdom) on 2002-04-08 11:57 [#00162112]

nope, it makes it the quality, its the same with
Electronica, u dont often hear that much on the radio but we
all know thats the best form of music.

or perhaps its because the american people dotn want to see
that the english are wiping the floor with there over-paid
actors and programmes with cheaply made fantastic comedy.

and SHUT UP about monty python? what the fuck is that thing?
ive never even SEEN it. or faulty towers? what IS THAT?

actually i don't know to much about friends...i watch it
here and there...but the numbers don't favor my side of the
argument...that's one of the most watched shows here in
america. and that's just to add to the seinfield
division...their practally the same.

but in our difence...we did make simpsons...that show is
totally grade a american...it's even manufactured on the
backs of poor korean swaetshop animators.

should expect something decent, the simpsons is probably one
of the best tv shows ever, ill admit that. ;-) i think
theres about 55 million in the uk, or something, but we
manage to beat your asss at the quality/non quality ratio

The Simpsons is actually a British show and is made in the
Rhondda valley in south Wales. Its marketed at aa American
because the US is supposedly cooler than Wales.

thats funny, i always hear about people complaining there
isnt enough electronica in america. i just get pissed at
things such as friends, and the amount of money spent on it,
when it really isnt that good, and when compared to stuff
like harry hill, which pisses all over friends.

"well, i went down to protest about the newbury bypass, oh
yeah, oh yeah man, i went down to protest....about the
newbury bypass, and err, got stuck in traffic! what they
need down there is some sort of ring road, or something!"

now THATS comedy genius ;-)

that's not ture...it's the brain child of american matt
grenninng, who's very much american...i've even seen his
pre-simpsons stuff, a bunch of sef-help worksheets for
problems like drug abuse, low self esteem, acholism...i'd
use his stuff to teach classes, and noticed that it even has
american copywrites...

Agreed, the American youth ( lets say, North-American youth)
are generally very immature and childish ( I'm saying
generally here, not everyone, so dont freak out please).
I noticed the difference right away when I was put into
grade 10 here midway throughout the year after immigrating
from Rotterdam, Holland.(even though this is 20 years ago).
I found the youth here kinda lost and clingy to their
schools, and found them to be laughing at things that IMO
were kinda ridiculous and stupid.
I noticed that things havent changed much amongst the
general teenagers here.
However, I do find the youth who are more into the
underground/so-called alternative scene a little more mature
and have far more to say then the average kid that listens
to Britney or a Christina whatever her name is.
Same with comedy, I have always found the average NBC,ABC
shows ( Friends, Seinfeld, Frasier, whatever else is out
there) bland and not funny at all.
I like it more crude and real , thats why I even found
MARRIED WITH CHILDREN far funnier then anything else out
now, cause it was a good parody of the average American
family, as is the Simpsons.
I love the British Humour.
Shows such as Monty Python, Fawlty towers, Are You Being
Served, Chris Morris and the likes far funnier then anything
else on American tv nowadays.
