I don't like these computer animated movies from pixar etc.
I have the feeling, it does not take much effort to create
such a movie on the computer anymore, and the graphics look
really cheap. I actually think that hand animated movies
have more artistical value. Strange huh, tho i prefer
computer generated music over hand made music

I did not watch. But most of these pixar movies seem to
revolve about talking animals. I want to talk about the
technical aspect of these movie.Electronic movies actually
creates unique and new soundscapes, but what artistical
merrit does the computer provide for animated movies, what
could not be done the traditional way?

dinosaures you need to make a computer 1

i think pixar uses computer graphics in the right way. they
use it as a means to tell a story, and are often quite
traditional in their approach to directing - no bullet time
camera spinning nonsense, just bare bones story telling.

wall-e, for example, would lose its grandness if it hadn't
been computer animated, and the photorealism makes an
interesting contrast with the cartoony elements. same with
Up.

Okay, i did not watch those movies, because they seemed like
they were aimed at a younger or more family oriented
audience

i'd recommend them both. if you have any interest in
animated films, you'll surely enjoy them.

read.
this too
(both .pdf links)

We're in this kind of transitional state of software
hybrids. There are hybrids which work very well, and then
there's some which are shit but sell anyways.

just don't expect any good films coming out of
mainstream Hollywood in 2010++ and you'll be fine. Film is
film. Simulated reality system is simulated reality system.
Combine the two and you'll end up with awkward bastards like
"CGI-film".

Yah, CGI shit is much easier nowadays, but difficulty
doesn't determine artistic integrity. So it's a moot point.
The only thing that's pretty fucking retarded- given the
faster workflow nowadays- is the inflated cost of such
services. When CG shit is still costing over $1,000 a
second
, something is wrong. That's why films can
cost $200 million +, which is FUCKING RIDICULOUS.

Quarter of a billion could be used for so much benefit, but
they're spending it to make shit movies? That's fucked up.

If one can't make a SOLID film for under $50 million,
something is seriously wrong with one's working method.

"fuck u geoge lucas 2.0, u prick"

Fixed!

Cuz 1.0 was pretty fucking badass. I sincerely believe he
just lost his creative drive and narrative ability, like
perky 16 yo tits becoming 3 feet long and covered in
mushrooms.
