awhile back there was a rumour that portishead were
disbanding..And that beth gibbons would be going to work
solo..they supposedly have a dvd coming out that includes
videos, and the full version of theme from to kill a dead
man (finally)..i really wish, if this is true, that they can
release a 3rd final album then die, they need to go out with
style

they've denied it so it's probably true. or someone made it
up because their DVD is due and they wanted to get press
atention

I love Dummy. Can't say Portishead made me too proud with
their second record, though. ;(

spookyluke- i think their second is in ways as good as
dummy, very dark and more fierce..

I hope it's not true, i mean the only one who i can see
taking their torch is Goldfrapp

I haven't heard it in a long time--I just remember being not
as attracted to it. Hearing their second record just made
me want to listen to Dummy more. Maybe I'm weird.

I think I will, Ross!
Yah--a third record would be marvelous though.

yeah, it'd be fantastic..i have most of their videos on
videotape, but in scattered places around the house, so it's
a bit difficult to access them

good luck luke! a third would be good to see their evolution
too, like i wonder what their newer stuff actually sounds
like..since "triphop" is practically dead in the ground

Fall....after the summer release of the DVD...

id like to believe that but im afraid that both portishead
and massive attack have gone the way of the dinosouar. '97
there was a musical stlye called trip-hop now nobody dares
mentain it

People always think dummy is better!

i dont get it.

portishead is superior in my oppinion.
but then again, we are different people!

portishead are excelent, cant wait for their new album,
later this year i think.

portishead is better than dummy imho, though they are both
great anyway.

i just checked out the portishead web site yesterday to
enter the contest and check out the DVD information.

doesn't appear they are breaking up, but you never know. it
is a way to get some publicity for new releases! =0)
