quick review, for the 2 people who care and already know
this.

diamond eyes follows up sat.nite wrist nicely but doesn't
venture into any new terrain. the unmistakable deftones
sound is present in a mix of old and new elements from their
entire discography. tracks will start off with heavy metal
bass (think adrenaline) only to be overrun by chino's epic
emo cry-singing. The atmospherics are brilliant and songs
burst with creative ideas. This sadly also leads to 'all
over the place' compositions which may not be to everyone's
liking. In the end, this is an album that will easily stand
the test of time like deftones' previous works.

3.5/5

lol, atmospherics.

I looked it up and it is actually a word! :O

(used with a pl. verb)

a. Features, events, or statements intended to create a
particular mood or attitude: "[This book] is full of fiction
unconcerned with spooky atmospherics or suspense; most of
the collection's stories are about cruel humans and the
violence they commit" (Ken Tucker).

b. The mood or attitude so created.

Not so hot for me. I tire of their tired one trick white
pony.

Red Sparowe's new one's pretty good, Dillinger's album's a
monster and been banging out a lotta Red Chord too.

It's nice but not as good as White Pony (of course) or even
Saturday Night Wrist. The atmospheric tracks are wonderful
though, as you mentioned, and it's cool to hear Stephen
finally letting some of his love of Meshuggah come into the
picture.

Didn't know there was a new Red Sparowes out! I'll have to
get onto that, they're well wicked.

Dillinger's new one..... I think is a piece of shit.
Completely pointless if you have their prior records, which
are all better than this (especially Calculating Infinity).

Might give it a listen if it's anything like White Pony.
Deftones are kind of hit and miss with their albums imo

I love DEP's early stuff but am slowly being convinced by
their last two albums, this guy agrees

update:

it isn't all over the place compositions and now a definite
4/5 leaning towards 4.5/5

bloody amazing album.

Why does everybody refer to White Pony as Deftones' best
album? Around The Fur takes a big poo on White Pony. But
yeah...the new album is pretty killer.
