Seriously, guys, it's been 4 years since your last release
and almost 5 years since your last LP. I'm eager to hear
something new come out from what I might consider to be my
favorite band.

BOC has changed my life in profound ways. No other artist
has been more inspiring or more challenging to the way I
think. Please guys! Your fans want more! And they also want
to see you live for Christ's sake! We love you!!!

If BOC doesn't release a record soon, I'll fly out to
Scotland myself, drive deep out into their psychedelic
devil-worshipping Koresh-obsessed religious community out in
the country and... ask them kindly to make another
record.... YOU HEARD ME BOC! DON'T MAKE ME DO THIS!

BOC's last few albums weren't any good. It took them ten
years to make MHTRTC, and only a few years each for the
other two. If it takes them ten years, I would rather have
another MHTRTC than 30 different albums like the later
stuff. Let them take all the time in the world as far as I
am concerned.

I highly disagree with Taxidermist. I love all of BOC's
albums pretty equally. For most of my life, I considered
Geogaddi to be my favorite BOC album, but now I love them
all.

BoC's music is timeless... I hardly even consider it "IDM".

I hope they release something new, later if not sooner.

Since you have put it that way, there are about 3200 other
mediocre BOC clones out there that are making music equal to
or better than their last two albums. Spend a little time on
google and you will find it. A good place to start is
Tycho.

offline stickydrosera from Nashville, TN (United States) on 2010-04-25 05:27 [#02377637]
Points: 60 Status: Lurker

I find Tycho to be a cheap BOC knockoff. I find it nearly
blasphemous to say that it's better than BOC.

Ochre doesn't really sound like BOC, but I love Ochre.

Geogaddi is a masterpiece. And if you give it some time, TCH
is a masterpiece too.
They both have their own unique spin on the BOC world, and
tycho? lol please.

just face it, it's over! next album will be generic soft
electro with more guitar licks which will end up being used
for a advert for baby food

Yeah Campfire Headphase took a long time for me to
understand and appreciate, but now I consider almost on par
with Geogaddi and MHTRTC. Twoism is awesome too. Hi Scores
EP is amazing (everything you do is a balloon is probably my
favorite BOC song).

Tycho is a cheap BOC knockoff. Its still better than the
last two full length albums by BOC. I would rather listen to
good knockoffs than mediocre originals.

Well since this is a matter of subjective taste, I'm not
going to argue with you. Try saying stuff like "I'm just not
into Geogaddi and Campfire Headphase" instead of stating it
like it's a fact and you might sound less like a snob. You
sound like a pitchfork review.

Geogaddi is the best. How can anyone be a hater?
Unbelievable.

As for IDM... Were BoC ever really IDM anyway? I mean it's a
bit of a loose term but they don't sound a damn thing like
ae or afx or whatever else got passed off as "IDM". No
glitchin or out-of-time whackness of whatever... Just warm
noodly keyboards and friendly loping beats

I don't like one of their albums so you shouldn't like that
one either.

Yes. BOC are IDM.

Do Pitchfork even still exist? lol

BOC have just read this and have started a new album for
you. I'll be released in 2020. [Thank your lucky stars they
aren't signed to Rephlex or it would be limited to 2 copies,
one in the centre of the sun and the other smashed into a
million pieces and scattered over the moon.]

I hear Warp have just signed Bros... I would be ok with this
but I don't like their acoustic stuff. :(

You know, thats one of those things I hated most about the
new albums. The withered effect sounded natural on
everything before Geogaddi. Geogaddi onward it sounded like
they ran it through a cheap tape modelling plugin.

Geogaddi:
Allmusic: 4,5/5
Drowned in Sound (9/10)
Pitchfork (8.6/10)
PopMatters (favourable)
Rolling Stone (favourable)
Stylus Magazine (B+)
Tiny Mix Tapes 4,5/5
Themilkfactory 5/5

i never liked too much geogaddi, neither, its my last boc
favourite,
its sounds stressfull and disperse to me, when boc means
comfortable and warm... still some interesting tunes and
amazing ideas in there, but the overall sound its just no
no

in the other hand, i think tch is a fucking great album,
when the official xlt position is to hate it,
so maybe im not a proper boc fan...

Stickudrosera: I think what Taxidermist was getting at is
that MHTRTC was their masterpiece. If you've head all the
old tunes volumes floating around, you can see their style
refined and perfected for MHTRTC over the course of a decade
and some.

He is right that the other albums took way less time to
produce, and even conceptualize. While I love Geogaddi, I'd
still side with Tax that it doesn't have the same amount of
time and love that MHTRTC did.

A new album would be nice. There is a planned release of
their old material in a boxset but it's been on hold for
quite some time now.

Yeah, thats right about what I meant. Then I got called a
pitchfork review, and decided to bait people a bit, which is
kind of my bad.

The last two albums weren't really bad. They just weren't
amazing like mhtrtc. I would rather wait ten years and have
another album like it, then a bag of geogaddis or campfire
headphases.

the other in japan.
