I Miss The Future

I miss walking across the grassy plain of Utopia Planitia
and breathing the fresh air.

I miss drifting in C-Ring watching the ever changing clouds
of gas below flow and contort.

I miss being fluent at ancient instruments like the piano
and violin after an hour long download session.

I miss forgetting I had logged out of Simulacrum Society and
doing things I shouldn't have in real life.

I miss visiting the WAI Museum when I was a kid and being
able to talk to I.T.T.I.A. for a few hours.

I miss knowing that I had an eternity to get my life sorted,
more or less.

I miss looking up at a specific star and knowing absolutely
that it was just a matter of time and space that I or
someone else would be there.

I miss the future so much.

I was born a few millenniums too soon.

This is as future as future gets. It is constantly-
perpetually- the future.

The future sounds a bit geeky, I get annoyed with people
unable to stop fingering their iPhones as it is.
