theres something about that site that sucks so bad. I think
either have an aphex site or an "IDM" site, not one
dedicated to four "bands". thats totally out of whack. i
mean, its like he couldnt decide or something, so he placed
a four-way bet. doesnt he think afx deserves his own web
site? he should have called it www.4popularIDMartists.com.
and his composite picture of the four of them together just
cracks me up, i mean, they all hate each other for chrysts
sake. the only love there is from richard to tom,

ha ha! piss poor

for me, but im sure it will turn into a decent resource when
it gets going.

no reason, but why choose 4 artists? why not just an "IDM"

not as popular as chemical brothers though. aphex is more
popular than the other three artists put together.
popularity cant be the only deciding factor???

Ae likes BoC
Reechard is mad now that he had the chance to sign BoC to
Rephlex back in the days.
BoC love Rich yeah thats right.

All this is info from interivews.

it always amazes me how people critic or take something out
of context just for the sake of getting some attention. a
lot of webmasters take their time and money to provide a
place where others can come to get info, listen to tracks,
or just talk to others who share similar tastes. besides is
it really fair to critcize at this point? It might be
possible that the creator of watmm has other plans for the
future of his site. he may expand into other artists
eventually. I think the artists he chose for his beginning
focus were picked well.

ubil, learn to digest information as you read, not jump to
conclusions. the site exists . i was remarking on the high
levels of pretension in the concept of the site. ie "we are
the music makers" implies that the 4 artists listed are the
be all and end all of electronic music, nay all music.
pretentious, moi?

g goon,

ubik is confused because it sounds as if you are saying that
watmm is fully up and running which it is not to my
knowledge. the part of it that is up and running is the
brance that has tracks made by the members which will be
voted on in about a month. so that is why I was saying at
this point it may unfair to criticize.

yes but we know its about those 4 artists, thats the bit im
criticising. those 4 are the most popular IDM artists, but
there are dozens of other important artists who appear to be
excluded from his site, and thats very sad for them

I agree with you that there are many more artists out there.
in fact I haven't listened to s pusher or mu-ziq in quite a
while. aside from ae I listen to mostly other artists who
aren't as popular. anyway I don't think that joyrex will
just stick to those artists mentioned. like phobia0 he
listens to his members and if in the future if they want
more then he may do more. however, his "falling out of
love" with afx is none of our business though.

I kind of agree with Global Goon, I think the selection of 4
artists is rather arbitrary. If it does have to be 4
artists who "encompass the different aspects of electronica"
I would not include RDJ. If it were up to me, I would
select 4 artists Not Including RDJ, and leave this site up.

Like:

Tom Jenkinson
Autechre
Mike Paradinas
BoC

I feel that way especially because this site is soo good it
could hardly be improved by being one fourth of a new site.

mouse on fucking mars...

no one mentions them. okay, just to get "the facts"
straight. joyrex said he will expand to other artists as
time passes. getting all the content for four artists is a
big ass undertaking... let a lone more, so give it some
time.

and beside signed artists, i think he has a plan to
incorporate unsigned artists that visit the site as well.
"can't judge a book by it's cover" -- yeah i know it's
cliche but i dont give a flying fuck.

tortoise are great btw. their more "post rock" anyway.
haven't heard "standards" yet, got to go 'ear it.

OK, normally I am not a rude cunt, but since I am in a
particularly bad mood tonight, here goes:

You seem to think you've got my new site pegged real well,
when in fact you're just a presemptous cunt who is ASSUMING
he/she/it knows what the site is about. So, to set your
crooked arse straight, here's a synopsis of what watmm.com
is and is not:

it features the four most popular electronic artists of our
time. Why? Because they are the most popular, and I think
they deserve more in-depth coverage (especially BoC and
Squarepusher) than what they've gotten so far.
watmm.com's tagline is 'your electronic music resource'. It
aphextwinboardsofcanadasquarepusherautechreandnobodyelsebec
doesn't say 'your ausetheyarenotgoodenough resource' does
it? That's because watmm.com's goal is to highlight the
popular artists of our time, while also covering other
artists and general electronic music news.
The title means what it says - we are the music makers -
it's not only referring to the four spotlight artists, but
also to other electronic music artists, as well as the
'amateur' artists who visit the site.
As someone else pointed out, the fucking site isn't even up
yet, so who are you to judge it? I could add more artists to
have their own micro-site(s) inside watmm.com in addition to
the AFX, BOC, SQPSHR and AE sections.
Your 'so-and-so hates so-and-so fantasies have
nothing to do with what watmm.com is all about.
Another reason I chose these four artists is their musical
diversity - AFX, BOC SP and AE all have very distinct sounds
and styles, not because Rich is not blowing Tom anymore and
BoC isn't having AE over for tea at the bunker, ffs.

I would suggest passing judgement on something AFTER you've
had a chance to analyze it in it's finishes state, which
should be in a few weeks if all goes well.
