The captain hurtled through grey space in his attack ship. Ahead, wave after wave of Bluk Cubes, deadly fighters of the Mörd Clan, with the ability to dart through space almost defying known physics. Behind him, his once loyal comrades, now in hot pursuit on orders to eliminate their captain, having been led to believe he'd turned traitor. All bollocks of course, he'd just become too good at shooting. Pew Pew! Now he was rocketing down-space, to go underground and just chill out on one of the less regulated planets on the outer rim. A Browhar called Klynxx he'd once chatted with on the Teletext told him she'd like to meet him if he ever found himself in that Galactic Quadrant. He called up her Holo-Pic on the phase book app on the ship's computer. Apparently she had three minges. He punched in the coordinates, took off his gloves, unzipped his trousers and let his ship sail away from the interminable war that was now part of his past.

this is great and quite difficult and i will try my best to WIN (if you are able to win in the end (i also hope there is a big boss plz))
also, the graphics really remind me of a dosgame i played a long time ago. you were a squareblocky arsonist that had to strategically lay fuse and cannisters of petrol to destroy everything in the little square arena without setting yerself alight. if anyone can provide a link to this (i think it was a .com file about 50kb or thereabouts, haha) i will catch a train/plane/automobile and bake you a cake and fiddle with your naughty bits free of charge, i've been hunting for ages. /end thread hijack

Let's get this game on store shelves by Christmas.
This could be the back-of-box synopsis:
In a universe with only three dimensions, where planets are cubes, space ships are squares, and squares are hip, one star-pilot stands out above all the rest. He is Arthur Coolspace, captain of the 08th squadron of the rebellion against the evil Foursides Empire. Does he possess enough pink matter to rid the galaxy of the verminous Foursides Armada? Will he manage to defeat the malevolent Lord Quadrilateral before bluebar runs out? Only with your help does he stand a chance! Join the rebellion today!

I really summed it up well in that last post, to be honest.. If, as you say, your music project is an honestly serious attempt to create worthwhile art, and not just a practical joke on the world at large, then this computer game fits into the whole fabien poree project perfectly; it is the perfect computer-game-based complement --
It is dreadful: extremely low-quality, devoid of any fun or artistic merit, and leaves the player laughing in ridicule as opposed to walking away with something gained.
If that's what your stuff is aiming to do, then it does it perfectly well, really, but that would go against what you've already said about your music being a genuine attempt to create quality music.

The game is more of an experiment than anything, and the first actual game I completed. I'm still learning. I still think it's great fun though, in a primitive and unfair video game sort of way.
My music is different, I'm much more confident with it because I know what I'm doing.
I think the main point in anything I do is trying to tell people that it's fine to do the things you want to do, without trying to pretend you're a professionnal, without accounting for what's dictated by conventional taste. It's not just about honesty, I don't care, it's about being wary of routes that will stiffen and erase anything contradictory. If people in this kind of society are willing to throw money at something, it's because it puts them in no danger whatsoever.
I'm not saying I'm doing anything revolutionary, I'm certainly more of an useful idiot, but I'm still trying my best not to play a part in something I loathe.
You seem to think that worthwhile art is produced through professionnalism and Serious Pondering, which I think is not only bullshit, it's a vector of oppression.
I'm saying all that and probably sounding very pretentious. I'm no crusader and I'm not thinking of this whenever I do something. I just do it for fun and I'm sternly unwilling to compromise my fun.

Yep, see this this the thing. That's all good, and I'm glad you're honest about it - but the problem I have with it is that the people who rally around you and proclaim your music to be the greatest thing since sliced bread (Dan, in particular, is guilty of this hypocrisy, as is fleetmouse), will the next minute be complaining about the fact that the internet is flooded with, so-to-say, "low-quality" music that any teenager whipped up on a pirated copy of fruity loops, and absolutely tearing some other poor sod's music apart.
That's mainly what I'm annoyed about - the big xltronic circlejerk. It's alright for you to post whatever doodlings you came up with, since you're in the circle, but an outsider who begins doing the same will be utterly crucified.

I understand Porick's point and of course he's mainly right and probably started drinking around noon which I approve of, but Poree's oeuvre does contain pant droppingly accomplished pop tracks amongst his wide, eccentric range. For that reason I'd give him ear time and indulgence over someone who just beats a well worn path that doesn't distinguish them from any herd. I don't tend to listen to music anymore though as all this internet nonsense has kind of pissed in my Well of Enjoyment from where I used to draw pleasure.

Ah I see. I'm sorry you feel this way but I really can't have an opinion on this, because I can't know exactly why someone would like what I do. All I can say is that people outside this forum, people I don't even know, have been affected by what I do. I don't exactly know why. I hate saying this because it sounds like I'm trying to justify myself, but still I think I think it's a bit insulting for you to assume that people are only saying nice things because of peer pressure or what have you.
I'm still a little intrigued when I see Dan hating on Bodenständig, though :)
Also, just to clarify something; I don't consider what I do to be low-quality, or doodles. They're Fully Realised Works.

"I'd give him ear time and indulgence over someone who just beats a well worn path that doesn't distinguish them from any herd"
My fucking arse.
As if wesley willis, daniel johnston, gg allin and the rest of the unmusical "eccentrics" who felt the necessity to produce their shit music never lived.
Being different in the sense that poree's music is different isn't being different at all. It's a trite attempt at being twee and hokey.
And sorry if my criticism is contributing to the ratio of piss to pleasure in your "well of enjoyment" but it was about time you lot got called out on this shameless back-patting, hypocrisy and endorsement of irredeemably talentless muck.

eternal flame had me in tears laughing the first time i heard it. and many times after too. it's not easy to make it so perfectly 'bad'.
fabien seems pretty dedicated and genuine about his art. maybe when i'd just listened to it once i would have just laughed and dismissed it as merely ironic. but i now feel there's more to it, but just not the things you appreciate in music, as far as i can tell.

Hahaha man, again, you have no right to tell us what to like and what not. You didn't tell anyone mate, you, out of all people, got told by us. We were enjoying a simple game, that was actually pretty addicting, and you come along and tell us to not like it because the maker doesn't deserve it cause it's as bad as his music is. I'd like to know where in your brain this was triggered as 'a good idea to do'. You're just being an asshole man, or is it because we don't appreciate your output?
