Hello. My name is Patrick (pseudonym: Sticky Drosera). I am
an electronic musician/producer based in Nashville, TN. I've
been looking for a good place to promote my new songs and
get feedback on them, and I hope to spread my music around.

I have thousands of artists I would consider to be
influential on my work, but some of the most prominent are:
Boards of Canada, Autechre, Caribou, Panda Bear, Beach Boys,
My Bloody Valentine, Casino Versus Japan, Ochre, Auburn
Lull, Stereolab, Talk Talk, Idaho, Mark Kozelek (Sun Kil
Moon, Red House Painters), Ochre, Proem, Radiohead, Aphex
Twin, Squarepusher, Bjork, Slowdive, Augustus Pablo, The
Beatles, Stars of the Lid, Brian Eno, Four Tet

I really could go on and on, but I won't bore you and get
straight to the point. This is my newest song and among the
best of songs I've done in the past year. The few newer
songs I'm currently working on are similar to this (in both
quality and style).

Sticky Drosera - An Assortment of Furniture (on youtube)

let me know what you think!

Don't go on about your fucking "influences" so much, dude,
GEEZ...!

Just makes it sound like you are trying to be someone else.

Your music is easy on the ear and not a lot more IMHO.

Haha! Well Tractern, I wasn't sure of the nature of the type
of electronic music that gets pushed around on these message
boards. I wanted to be clear that my music was quite "dance"
or "techno" and I hoped the list would attract like-minded
folk (perhaps in a message board search?). Thanks for the
reply!

So do you think the song sounds like Tycho, Brisk? I used to
like them, but now they kinda bore me.

by the way, Tractern, I'm pretty sure every musician in the
world only made music because there was other music they
liked and listened to. BOC have said they like My Bloody
Valentine. Autechre have said they like Coil.

Wouldn't the fact that I have so many influences in such a
wide variety of genres negate the idea that I'm trying to be
someone else? How could I possibly be all these artists at
once? Unless I mixed together elements from all of them, but
that would be badass!

All I'm saying is that you don't have to be a dick. I
appreciate your opinion though!

i quite liked it.... but i think its too digital sounding to
fit your organic name...maybe a name change?????

Thanks, Bernard. I've thought about changing my project
name, but I've already changed it so many times. People in
Nashville are used to Sticky Drosera. Some of my older stuff
has more of an organic feel to it. I'll post more songs
soon.

yes, swiftjams. i'm working on a few songs right now. still
doing some finishing touches and throwing around ideas. i'll
post them whenever they're ready.

nashville is quite a haven for the young hipster crowd these
days. i live really close to belmont university. nashville
is quickly turning into the next austin, becoming more and
more about indie music and less and less about country
music. although country still reigns supreme here.

gah i hate saying it but i miss the opry house, bass pro
shops, and freedom to go artound shirtless in the summer
without having your neighbors stare at you and even park
your car in your lawn. here in nebraska, you cant do that
fun stuff
