Soundflower from Cycling 74 is free and when combined with audacity (also free) it allows you to record the sound thats playing on your laptop.

Or you should just be able to use audacity and record the audio in shouldn't you? If its from an external source.

audio hijack plus is what you want. it even lets you select which program you are recording from, and you can apply all your vst/au effects to any sound source live. (great for watching tv on hulu whose player is never loud enough for laptop speakers.)
cracks are fairly easy to find too.

i concur audio hijack is the easiest way only be very careful before you open the recorded file using audio or media programs. be sure that the file's name has the proper extensions on it, it can sometimes error when you open the file in pro quality software.
