it would be cool if you, every time you write a topic ,will
get 1 point for every 50 thread in the topic
in that way people will start to make more
intelligent/conversational topics.
And if you add a maximum self-posting per topic...example; 5
selfmade posts per 50 posts, you will block spammin
posts...

hope u get my point... ;)

well i think limiting the num. of posts the creater of a
thread can have within it would NOT be good...
if its a 120 post thread.. why couldn't u contribute more
than 5?(or any number!)

ESPECIALLY if u were discussing something and suddenly you
couldn't reply.. that would just suck

I don't think most people care that much about points.

A suggestion i'd like to make is possibly adding an edit
feature. Being the flawed human beings we are, we are prone
to making typing errors. And I make plenty.

Yeah Edit would be a cool one to have..limiting is just
wrong.... and most people dont care about points.

Well I mean the pointsystem is GOOD and should be kept
ofcourse, I just mean no one goes out of their way to get
more or anything.

i agree with most.....that people usually stop posting for
points fairly quickly, because there is only so much you can
say without really contributing. i do like the idea of more
intelligent/ good fun convo's tho!! i'm all for that =0)

You'd think people would be motivated to make good topics
for the great CONVERSATIONS and EXCHANGE OF IDEAS.

If you're offering POINTS for people to do that, then
there's something wrong there...

good point ophecks!

interesting conversation/discussion should be incentive
enough to post... if thats NOT your incentive than u
shouldn't be here

.. u here that ohpecks?!? GET OUT!!!!
haha j/k:)

I made a topic about how big our dicks are, once... it got
over a hundred posts... should I get bonus points for such
an intelligent and well thought out topic? Probably not. :-)
Actually, I almost NEVER post new topics, for some reason...

Anyway, there'll always be good topics and good
conversation, and there will always be spam. And there will
always be assholes like me that just give three word replies
to get more points. ;-)

i dont really care about points..

but ophecks made a good point..a thread's post number doesnt
necissarily indicate its quality...kara's 'i know aphex'
thread got like 400 posts in less thana day...and we all
know what came of that

offline D-Hex from Blue Springs Missouri (United States) on 2002-04-06 02:28 [#00159999]

i dont, what happened, and who is kara?

so what happened again?

ive heard this mentioned before, but what happened?

someone named 'kara' came on claiming to know aphex
personally..said she would answer any question...allegedly
gave out one of his email addresses...annoyed many
people...amused others
turned out to be a fake...was banned by phob...

well if you really wanted to limit the self-post (which i
don't agree with), you could structure it so that for every
50 replies the author of the post gets 5 self-posts

offline Junktion from Northern Jutland (Denmark) on 2002-04-06 08:57 [#00160198]
Points: 9713 Status: Lurker

i dont think it would limit anything i it's set
correctly...5 selfpost per 50 post sound fair. and the
selfposting-limit should only be there so people dont try to
earn points by overposting their own topic...

just think about the idea for a minute...

offline Junktion from Northern Jutland (Denmark) on 2002-04-06 09:04 [#00160202]

how about 5 selfposting per 25 posts?...

offline Cheffe1979 from fuck (Austria) on 2002-04-06 09:05 [#00160203]

is selfposting really a problem here? never saw anyone do
it..

take this topic, junktion: 17 posts 3 of you-> only two left
for you for the next 33 posts! so think twice about
replying! :-))

offline Junktion from Northern Jutland (Denmark) on 2002-04-06 11:41 [#00160232]
Points: 9713 Status: Lurker

no selfposting is not a problem. but it would be if you get
points for posts.
i know...thats why i think it should be 25 instead =)

I don't care at all of the points,and I don't consider that
a topic is good only if it has 50 replies on it.what's
really important is the topic itself
