Richard D. James - A complaint

I am not writing to agree or disagree with Mr. Richard D.
James. What I have to say, however, regards Richard's
decision to woo over temperamental Neanderthals by using
tactics such as scapegoating, reductionist and simplistic
solutions, demagoguery, and a conspiracy theory of history.
Let us note first of all that if we let him funnel
significant amounts of money to odious, ethically bankrupt
finks, all we'll have to look forward to in the future is a
public realm devoid of culture and a narrow and routinized
professional life untouched by the highest creations of
civilization. And if you think that a richly evocative
description of a problem automatically implies the correct
solution to that problem, then you aren't thinking very
clearly.

You've never heard that his intention is to replace the
search for truth with a situationist relativism based on
useless jingoism? That's because his votaries have been
staging a massive cover-up for quite some time now. But if
you keep your eyes open, you'll notice that if he can't be
reasoned out of his prejudices, he must be laughed out of
them. If he can't be argued out of his selfishness, he must
be shamed out of it.

I may be beating a dead horse here, but I do want to point
out that I am really not up on the latest gossip. Still, I
have heard people say that that fact is simply inescapable
to any thinking man or woman. "Thinking" is the key word in
the previous sentence. While we may all pray for a perfect
utopian world in which everyone is holding hands and singing
"We Are the World" in perfect harmony, the reality is that
Richard's plans for the future set the intellectual and
moral stage for a new wave of whiney policies that seek to
substitute breast-beating and schwarmerei for action and
honest debate. Sad, but true. And it'll only get worse if
Richard finds a way to gag free speech. Thus, in summing up,
we can establish the following: 1) Mr. Richard D. James
prizes wealth and celebrity over and above decent morals and
sound judgment, and 2) th

and 2) things are apt to get worse before they get better.

Exactly what diabolical plans does RDJ have planned? You
have posted no evidence, or better yet, a clear motive for
your accusations.

Your argument is poorly constructed and quite frankly,
anyone that takes it seriously is not what you yourself
deemed "thinking" men or women.

As far as I am concerned it is all about the sound. I care
nothing for RDJ's personal agenda, I dig his music and that
is all that is important as far as I'm concerned.

I went a bit overboard on the "as far as I'm concerned's" in
that last sentence unfortunately...

Why doesn't this MB have an edit post option? I despise
making mistakes in my posts and it's just tearing me up
inside that I can't fix them.

While you're probably sick of hearing about Mr. Richard D.
James, it is crucial that you read this letter. So let's
begin, quite properly, with a brief look at the historical
development of the problem, of its attempted solutions, and
of the eternal argument about it. It may sound strange to
him when I say that one can predict on empirical grounds
that sometime soon he will create an atmosphere of mistrust,
in which speculations and rumors gain the appearance of
viability and compete openly with more carefully considered
theories, but someone once said to me, "We mustn't tolerate
the likes of Richard D. James." This phrase struck me so
forcefully that I have often used it since. Debate with him
or a search for common ground is both a fruitless exercise
and a suicidal strategy. Surprised? You shouldn't be,
because he has spent untold hours trying to consign most of
us to the role of his servants or slaves. During that time,
did it ever once occur to him that what he insists are
original prevarications are nothing more than warmed-over
versions of neopaganism? It is only when one has answers to
that question is it possible to make sense of his press
releases, because we must fight the warped, distorted,
misshapen, unwholesome monstrosity that his biases have
become. As mentioned above, however, that is not enough. It
is necessary to do more. It is necessary to shelter
initially unpopular truths from suppression, enabling them
to ultimately win out through competition in the marketplace
of ideas.

Accompanying this recognition of the indeterminateness of
verifiability with regard to an external, objective reality
has been a crisis regarding our ability to know that Richard
contends that things have never been better. Sounds rather
brazen, doesn't it? Well, that's Richard for you. To oppose
racism, we must oppose exclusionism. To oppose mercantalism,
we must oppose careerism. And to oppose Richard, we must
oppose snooty twits. He has stated that the kids on the
playground are happy to surrender to the scho

....school bully. One clear inference from that statement --
an inference that is never really disavowed -- is that
anyone who dares to develop an alternative community, a
cohesive and comprehensive underground with a charter to
reveal the nature and activity of his lackeys and expose
their inner contexts as well as their ultimate final aims,
can expect to suffer hair loss and tooth decay as a result.
Now that's just incorrigible.

Again, in a recent essay, he stated that a book of his
writings would be a good addition to the Bible. Since the
arguments he made in the rest of his essay are based in part
on that assumption, he should be aware that it just isn't
true. Not only that, but his slogans are built on lies, and
they depend on make-believe for their continuation. Believe
it or not, Richard's eccentricity is surpassed only by his
vanity. And his vanity is surpassed only by his empty
theorizing. (Remember his theory that children should get
into cars with strangers who wave lots of yummy candy at
them?) The end.
