autechre messes with my mind..

Ross from can. on 2001-06-20 07:44 [#00010451]

Okay, this seems kinda irrelevant maybe..does anyone have
any music that they put on whilst sleeping that makes them
sleep easily? Autechre always puts me to sleep, even though
it's really chaotic sometimes..I usually end up waking up
later and feeling so weird..A lot of music i cant easily
fall asleep to, but autechre (especially Garbage/Anvil) does
the trick..

M from Fraggle Rock on 2001-06-20 07:47 [#00010453]

I usually go to sleep listening to music. Even chaotic noisy
loud stuff, like merzbow or something.

Well, I usually go to sleep in school, so that LATER i could
listen to music! :)

Justin Schiz from Stamford, Ct., USA on 2001-06-20 15:31 [#00010485]

i think elephant song by Afx Twin makes me fall asleep...

Ross from can. on 2001-06-20 16:35 [#00010498]

i use to fall asleep in school ocasionally, once in math and
the teacher told me that if i fell asleep anymore i'd have
to go home..2 mins. later i fell back asleep, thankfully he
didnt see me...I've never heard any merzbow before..what's
it like?

Autechre messes with my patience.
Not in terms of how quick their music is, but as people they
seem to me to be rather arrogant/pretentious.
But that view's probably unfounded, so please don't take
offence.

Ross on 2001-06-20 17:31 [#00010504]

none taken man..

thanksomuch from miami (and i hate it here) on 2001-06-20 21:27 [#00010529]

Glam......

Ross on 2001-06-20 22:17 [#00010533]

Last night i listened to Kid A whille i was in bed. it was
quite nice. i don't like waking up to that album though

Ross on 2001-06-21 01:17 [#00010550]

Justin Schiz from USA on 2001-06-21 01:21 [#00010552]

HEY I SLEEP IN MATH TOO! :)

|REFLEX| from Western Canada on 2001-06-21 06:43 [#00010564]

I need to sleep to music, well not sleep.. I turn it off
right before I actually decide to pass out heh.. but I
always throw 3 cds in my player and chill in the dark in my
bed, its great... especially if you got the remote for the
player. I love it, it makes me imagine, and time to think
clearly.

cheech wizard from age on 2001-06-21 10:20 [#00010578]

oswellm,i agree with you ...ae are one of my favorite
bands....but the arrogance ive seen in recent interviews
really pissed me off no end.

Leo DeBoe from USA on 2001-06-21 10:23 [#00010579]

Mira Calix has a track called Khala. It is about ten and a
half minutes. It puts me right to sleep, and I can get to
sleep before it is over. God Bless Warp. :)

SWAI from Denmark on 2001-06-21 15:53 [#00010613]

Tom waits live recording. its really comfy!

M from Fraggle Rock on 2001-06-21 18:03 [#00010628]

Merzbow- The only album I suggest is Tauromachine. The
global volume on this cd is a lot louder than most cd's. (On
6, it will be REALLY loud, while other cd's are normal
volume on 6). It is really chaotic noise, sometimes he gets
a really evil pulse of noise going, grinding and destroying
everything in its path. This album sounds like destroying
civilization with various super weapons. The whole album is
not stop grinding, shrieking, tearing, pulsing, etc.

What is Kid A. like?

Ross on 2001-06-21 18:44 [#00010633]

i'll check out merzbow...Kid a is excellent, download
'everything in its right place' and 'idioteque' if you can
to start out..but i'm sure you wouldnt be disappointed with
it if you bought it

For the past week I've gone to sleep to orbital's "middle of
nowhere",... better than "in sides" and "brown" in my
opinion

M from Fraggle Rock on 2001-06-22 09:18 [#00010679]

I've recently taking a re-liking to depeche mode. Simple
stuff like violator. Only it's not simple, is it? I don't
know, if you really think about it, does music get better
than this. The organization is practical at least.

Earface from Henglund on 2001-06-22 18:09 [#00010700]

I like sleeping to Confield on repeat, or Ovuca's Waisted
Sunday - bliss

I've also got this tape I made from recording some of the
tunes off my old C64, that sends me to sleep nicely.

I haven't read any Autechre interviews where they come
across as arrogant (not forgettening that Macunians tend to
come across as inherently arrogant anyway), but I read an
interview of Tom Jenkinson in NME and he comes across as
well fucking arrogant. The guy loves himself - and he
listens to garage. It's a shame really.
I'm also a bit sick of that crap that Rephlex go on about
Braindance being 'original, debonair, eclectic' and all that
bullshit. That is incredibly arrogant and pretentious. I'm
not too impressed with them writing 'home taping is killing
music, and it's illegal' on their albums either. I mean,
what a load of crap - they just want more money. (gloomy
bastard eh?)
