Evangelion 2.0 You can (not) advance

anyone seen this?

was in cinema last night - what a shit.

imo it looks more expensive in a bad way, they tried to make
everything more lush... but 3d battles really don't help the
watered down, blandly emotionalized non-existing plot. It
felt like some remix of everything you've seen before in NGE
minus the psychological tension, plus lots of superfluous
effects and random added "stuff" (it literally felt like
that), like a new character that really introduced, more
tits from 14yr olds, the kids also got a bit different
"character traits", but these really suck.
etc.

i am disappoint.

how did it compare to the first movie?

i liked the first one - it had nice pacing, time to develop
the plot. Also the graphic overhaul and especially the 3d
was put to good use (the pyramid angel that was
shape-shifting).

this one is connected to the original series more loosely,
which could have been good if if they had fleshed out
certain characters' darker aspects, but they did not. It
kind of tries to be more accessible, making the kids more
human and nicer, which imo doesn't fit in at all.

i started watching the anime but couldn't get into it even
though it's suppose to be the best anime series .. but i've
never been into mecha so...

what about mari ?

Don't they introduce another Child (the Sixth) in this one,
too?

larn: the series is worth another shot. It's not until
around ep 12 things start to get interesting, and it won't
take long before you get hooked. Evangelion's famous for
introducing another take on the whole mecha-genre (and
psycho-dramas). Utena followed in its wake, etc...

mari makinami - hence my question in the above post.

i'm actually quite excited - like the first part a lot.

i'm a huge fan of evangelion and i'm curious about the
outcome. there was so much fuss with the different endings
and cuts that i hope that hideaki anno will finally be able
to show what he wanted to show.

Mari, the Sixth, is absolutely random, for the pedos to
enjoy. The film starts out with her battling an angel. Then
she appears sometimes out of nowhere throughout the film. No
hints whatsoever of why and how and what connection she has
to anyone else except she's from the US branch of Nerv and
likes peoples' smell, wow.

Do you remember how Asuka was introduced in the series with
the battle on sea? This was redone like that: angel arrives
on land, "wtf the evas aren't ready", cut, asuka drops from
sky with her eva, fights angel, done.

note that the statements above are opinion. The theatre was
filled with fans, generally people in the audience seemed to
enjoy it so maybe you might too.

You must've finished your reply before I'd finished mine,
because I didn't see your question.

Anyhow, I'm a great fan, as well. Apparantly the fourth film
will be something entirely new. I'd recommend Shiki-Jitsu if
you're interested in his live-action works.

I enjoyed the first film, and it's exciting that EVA's back.
Only time will tell what Hideaki Anno has been planning for
the series for so long.

So what's Mari's psychological problem, then?

Everyone's a mess in Evangelion. ;D

that's the thing actually - everyone is less fucked up, and
it blows.
Mari doesn't seem to have any problem.

want spoilers?

shinj starts cooking, makes lunch for both asuka and rei, to
be nice to them. asuka starts of bitchy, but very soon
realizes that talking to people is good, she can't do
everything by herself and even says "thank you" to rei.
rei is flattered by shinj being nice, tells asuka she feels
warm and fuzzy when he's around, and wants to prepare a
party for everyone, including shinji's father.
it's that bland.

oh, oh the best is

*massive spoiler*
both rei and asuka cut themselves
emo style but it's only being hinted at.
when they see each others band-aid
is when asuka says thanks to rei.
*end massive spoiler*

Fingers crossed then, it'll show up in the cinemas here in
sweden, as well. They only showed Miyazaki's Ponyo at one
place if you wanted to see it in japanese. Swedish dubs are
f-ing awkward, it makes you cringe (they use the same voices
over and over).

I finished watching the series a couple of days ago.
it was a waste of time in my opinion. the ending...wtf?

very overrated in my opinion

samurai champloo and samurai x are still my favorite
series.
haven't seen really good mecha series.

i know that after such a disapointment there is rather no
way to convince you, but you seriously should check the
movies as well. end of evangelion shows an alternative
ending which might suit you more. the ending of the series
is in fact, bollocks.

Yeah, I think you've got NGE confused with Death Note,
friend.

I guess death note is pretty cool too..

I wish i was good at japanese so that i could understand
anime better, i can't stand cheesy dubbing and sometimes
they use white sub titles which are hard to read, as anime
tends to be very bright in color the text is sort of hidden

5 years ago maybe. now even speedsubs are very decent and
you can change the colour and size of your subs.
