i should hope its possible to make some abstract sounds without them being idm. and i should hope im not considered just an "idm" tune maker
about 5% of my songs are abstract, and 50% of those futuristic of which maybe 40% could be considered idm..
still some people say im a regular idm musician. BOOOOOOOO!

It's totally IDM that you worked out the percentages of what specific type of IDM you make.

i've noticed some people just say idm when they want to be disparaging. i wouldn't let it bother you unless you can glean valid feedback from what they are saying.
then there are others who will just innocently say idm because they call autechre and aphex that and think your music is related to that genre.

why don't you give a record label a shot, then all these haterz will be upset about the shit they're sayin once you're signed.
Then when you get a label to back you up with a release or two, your concepts won't seem like outlets for rejects.
havent you release stuff on a legit label though?

I really wouldn't call you an IDM artist Coax... apart from when you do IDM lol.
I'd class your work more abstract or avant-garde... maybe even "sound design" if that exists....

I think I would pretentiously class it as 'electroacoustic', 'acousmatic' or 'dross'.

I think what cx is getting at is that he feels that the sounds he makes every day don't fit into I, nor D, nor M or any combination.
