that eden grey vs auxilec @ sundae is hot.

"Girl music". Just make music, there doesn't need to be a
special platform for music made by ladies.

That was my first thought. But if there MUST be a label to
cater for a gender, why call it something that sounds like a
female hygiene product and puts people in mind of the less
dominant partner in a lesbian relationship.
Go for something with a bit of a punch.

Like "SNATCH!"

Gender specific music genres anyone?FemIDM?

It'd be 45 minutes of bedroom recording through'
audacity',banging on about how cold it is all set to backing
track of random beats from Ejay and the sound of the estate
chavs revving up their twokked mopeds.
Hey...
You could be on to something.

I've never understood the pull of mopeds, I'm bewildered as
to how you can act like a "hard man" while zipping up a town
road on something that sounds like a kazoo being played by
Loyd Grossman's nose.

Well Ive heard it compared to a chap going out with a fat
bird.
Fun to ride but you wouldnt want your mates to find out.
:P

Where I live the chavs love riding their mopeds up and down
the road, impressing the girls with the big red L sticker
they'll never lose. The chavs have taken to doing
impressions of the mopeds with their manufactured nasal
accent. I'm the Attenborough of urban animals.

Well, theres a million chances of usable samples for sound
enthusiasts with chavs arent there? The rustle of tracky
bottoms, the snarl of a staffy, the screech of a Chantaya or
the call of the cocky twat,(oi liam ya wanka ).You should
observe them for signs of brain activity beyond asking for
ten lambert and butlers or a bottle of wkd.

Technically,Its beyond me.And to get back to the original
topic,I couldnt do what any aspiring musician does.Including
the young women at Femrecords.I admire anyone who can make
music that makes people want to listen.I just dont like the
labelling and partitioning according to gender.I think its
important that young women are encouraged to get on,in any
area, but not given the handicaps that gender specific
companies/groups/labels & publishing houses so often
unwittingly saddle them with.

I too admire any person who can just sit down and create any
form of art regardless of age, race or gender. It's
jealousy, possibly.

Well, dont feel bad.I think with me its a case of not wanting
people to have it too easy for fear that theyll become lazy
or complacent.
Yes thats me-Cynical,hard-faced and embittered.Just the sort
of person who shouldnt be posting on a message board at
stupid o'clock in the morning.
Night descent & the rest of you chaps.

Artwood,

>>>I think its important that young women are encouraged to
get on, in any area, but not given the handicaps that gender
specific companies/groups/labels & publishing houses so
often unwittingly saddle them with. <<<

Yes, that's certainly a valid point and I can see the
possible danger in it. However, I think that the FEM Records
artists are willing to take that risk because they realize
that they are a tiny sub-section of an already small market.
(Relative to the mainstream.)
