Aphex Twin - true story (maybe)

Dear All,

Last August Aphex Twin played on a night called Traveller at
a club called Scotland Yard in Newcastle. I went and it was
absolutely class.

Anyway, that night Aphex apparently went back to a friend of
a friend's house for a party (I didn't go, I was far too
drunk so I went home). Apparently he was a total cunt and
was trying to find a phone number in a telephone directory,
but couldn't find it so started getting angry and chucking
the telephone directory about the place and breaking things.
In the end the guy whose house it was just told him he was
a cunt and kicked him out.

Funny, eh? It's probably not 100% accurate, and may not
even be true. Just telling you what I was told.

The next night he was apparently seen drinking in the
Cumberland Arms, Byker, which is a pub in Newcastle which
was having an outdoor party that night. Apparently there
were people flocking round him all night trying to talk to
him. I didn't go to that either, but I think that one's
definitely true as my mate saw him. It's not particularly
interesting though.

:)

He doesn't come across as the most amiable bloke. then again
I don't give a fuck as I'm not into the cult of personality.
I just love his tunes.

Yes, and I always thought he carefully cultivated his
misanthropic image, so this fits nicely. Anyway, I second
jonesy's opinion. I don't give a fuck about his personality.
I care about his music (because you do), is all.

thats funny,
last time he came to my house he ate some fermented
applesauce and went berzerk. he broke the grandfather clock
in the hallway and then he took a dump on my roommate's
bed.
this is a true story. except the part about him coming to
my house and eating fermented applesauce... and the part
about the clock and the dumping on my roommate's bed.

i heard from a friend 'who knew a friend his ex' that he
used to hit her whilst having sex. again could/could not be
utter shite. only one thing is certain about chinese whisper
stories-they're unreliable.

Yeah, my good friend's brother went to an Aphex show around
95 in Minneapolis... he said he asked Richard after the show
to come back to a few parties... and was declined....so if
manicminer's story is true that was probably a good thing

He DOES come off as a bit of an asshole. I'd be afraid to
meet him and tell him what I think of his music, he might
beat me and rape me. :-)

John Lennon seems like a bit of a dick. Paul seems nice.

I find the personalities of certain artists (like hendrix)
to be interesting considering the music is not so seperate
from the person, but you just can't rely on hearsay.

To me I always got the impression that Paul had a bit of an
ego, but that's just an impression I get from random
indirect media.
