I wish I lived in the 80s

One of the reasons being that such ridiculously hilarious
films such as this were around.

For someone who was around my age or a little yonger
(15-20), was it ace living in the 80s?

It seems like a cool time, when things were changing and
consumerism made stuff more and more readily available.

So, what was it like? Awesome?

The 80s for me were a time of toys and cartoons and
kindergarden. The world had a different color palate back
then. I miss it.

Yeah, but that's just cos you were young.

What was it about the fact that you were growing up at that
time which made the experience unique?

Darnit, I didn't mean for that to sound like an interview
question... :/

How long are you going to have it as your avatar?

Woahwah, nice list!

K, what's;

TR7
espadrilles
triangle

And is zx 81 a dangerous food colouring?

Lol, yeah, the roads were clear cos instead of Major giving
insider status to an enironmentalist pressure group, such as
Friends Of The Earth, he gave it to the Road Side Alliance
or something, to give him help on how to build shit loads of
roads. I always took that as a hilarious metaphor for how
straight, pracatical and boring Major was. Then again, he
was perfect for the time, after Thatcher's trying to do
everything and not helping anyone, but the rich to get
richer.

If any of this is wrong, correct me. I only did Politics for
one year at college... :)

oh, forgott about the Walkman, another source of envy since
I never got one. Sony was the big thing of the eighties, in
every way really. And then there was Casio. Japanese
electronics in general. Japanese Electronics and American
Consumerism, that pretty much sums it all up.

And Bergerac on the telly...

I had a dream, I dreamt about this thread. I dreamt I was
with 7pd in some shopping mall in the 80s in Calais, and he
was deliberatly buying naff products. There was a range of
talc called "Incest" and these bottles labeled "Wine Flavour
Drink". 7pd was taller than I was and the shop was run by a
Morrocan. There were people outside the shop wearing ghastly
nylon flares.

I think I was profoundly shaken by your "twix were only
ever called raider in 3rd world europe and on a ferry that
goes there when you are on a day trip to calais in 1983
" post. It awoke previously well buried memories of
going to France on a school trip, pointlessly to some vast
dark spooky shopping centre, and then coming back again.
Every time I've been to France it's been horrible. NEVER
AGAIN.

I can remember recoiling in horror at what appeared to be a
twix but had the word "raider" emblazoned on it's gold
jacket. i think this is where the seeds of Euroscepticism
were planted in my mind.

Everybody bought french bangers, hardcore porno pens and
flick combs. My friend brought back a loaf of bread for his
mum and a copy of Iron Maiden's Number of the Beast LP on
vinyl. I heard Radio Gaga for the first time on the coach
home.

Looking back, the whole trip must surely have been just an
elaborate excuse for some teachers to go on cheap booze run.

do you mean the classic turn upside down to reveal nudity
pen ?
cause the type we got in Calais, you looked down them
through a magifying glass, and twisted them to reveal a
series of indecent sex acts more suited to the pages of
Rodox or Color Climax magazine
