Any previous/current Acne sufferers out there?
Started quite early for me. Started breaking out at 12, by 14 my whole face was covered. Mine was truly a worst case scenario. Tried Accutane for a while but the dryness and itch was too unbearable, so I gave it up. Friend of mine went into depression supposedly as a result of using the medication.
Truly an awful affliction. The kind of discrimination one receives is like a kind of racism. Kids on the bus called me Pizza face, incessantly mocking me, pointing to the fact that my face was covered in pus filled spots. Looking back on it, I really should have squirted one out on them.
The whole ordeal created a feel of self consciousness that I have not been able to shake in my adulthood. Luckily by the time I was 18, it had pretty much all cleared up. I'm a lot older now, still get some on my back, but nothing to feel self conscious about.
I feel sorry for zitty kids. I know exactly how they feel. We just want to feel pretty and good about ourselves. Acne completely fucks with that. Next time you see an Acne sufferer, give them a hug or a smile. God knows they need it.

it's zilty, not zitty! LOL :| seriously though, getting spots is horrible. I've always been really lucky and never had acne, but if ever I get spots I feel really self-conscious so I really feel for people who get it really bad.

Portnoy,
I used to get bad acne from a young age, it started when i was about 13 and at 15 I had big cysts which where on my face and back, chest the kids at school made fun of me, so I was quiet and closed off to others mostly. pills did little for me until they gave me roacutane (same as acutane)
it worked pretty well and it cleared my skin, but i had been left with scars.
The psychological effect this had on my is very significant, it made me shy and low in confidence, especially with women. It was only later on in life that i noticed that women don't judge you for appearance alone.
When i was 21 it came back a little, but not as bad, then when i was 26 it came back bad again. I took roacutane again and this time i had more sever side effects, i had very sensitive skin which bruised easier, cracked lips (i went through tons of lipbalm) itchy eyes, tiredness, and the worst one was psychological, I would get very emotional for no reason. Like driving home from London, i just started balling my eyes out for thinking about life and it's complexity, really sobbing and shacking, i had more outburst of intense emotions, usually sadness with crying and for no reason. then suicidal thoughts and fantasies were becoming more frequent. i went to the doctor and they lowered the dose for a while, eventually the acne cleared for good and i had not had any problems with it, i am 28 now.
I think there is a possibility that i will need the drug again, so it's 6 months of hell, but to have clear skin for 5 or 6 years is worth it :)
Not many people realize how hard it is for a person with moderate/sever acne to get through it. it makes your life like hell and leaves scars behind, real ones and mental ones.
larn out....

I've heard that popping and picking at them with your fingers then massaging your face with thick grease really helps.

My aunt who is like 35 still has acne and she said that she only found something that helps it a lot recently. It was Chinese holistic medicine. Tea leaves that you boil in a pan, then drink. I reccoment seeing a Chinese holisitic person about it. It is expensive, but effective.
