Way back when. I wanna read it again. In fact a few weeks
ago i recieved his 'In the Shadow of no Towers'. I wasn't
expecting it to be like that all.. It's nicely packaged,
lots of old gems but i dunno...i guess i expected more.

Why, thank you! I'm delighted to be here. :]

I just watched the youtube link you posted in this thread,
and it was truly touching! I must own this film in every
format, including Betamax, laserdisc, and just the audio on
8-track.

Not a hope in hell. : )

Bought some Jordan 1's the other day. Only released in
europe. It seems i can't control my addiction. I have way
over 250. I can't afford them and constantly put myself in
trouble.

Hello! Had any good cigars lately?

offline RussellDust on 2009-11-09 09:30 [#02343179]
Points: 16053 Status: Lurker

Hey! Yep i sure did!

A Bolivar Petit Belicoso Lim. Ed. 2009. Not smoked it yet.

A PUNCH Poderosos Reg. Ed. 2009. Only made for the country
i'm in. Smoked it during Chelsea - Man Utd yesterday. Very
nice indeed. It's my lucky brand. I tend to smoke a PUNCH
when watching football (soccer).

A H. Upmann Magnum 48 Lim. Ed.2009. Not smoked it yet.
Apparently one of this year's best. Quite small but i think
it will be a strong one.

And i stick to my usual Romeo 2 during the day, night, as
often as possible!

How are you then? I don't think i ever asked but you're in
the States right?

Yes, unfortunately I'm from over there. It's been 10
years since I discovered AFX and there hasn't once been a
single good electronic music show within any reasonable
distance from where I live. I should move.

Those cigars sound good, particularly the small but powerful
one. I love the smell of good smoke! Do you have one you
would recommend to an absolute beginner?

offline RussellDust on 2009-11-09 10:00 [#02343183]
Points: 16053 Status: Lurker

You should get in touch with a local place and maybe bring
some artists over.

I'd gladly recommend something. What are you looking for
exactly? I'd say a Montecristo 4 is always pleasant to start
off with. It's a little spicy at first but becomes very well
rounded. A good brand to check out is Hoyo de Monterrey. One
of the lightest of the brands in terms of strength.. oooh
fuck wait a minute. Cuban embargo... haha shit. My fave
non-cuban brand is Arturo Fuente. You can always find cubans
in the states but you have to know the shop owners so they
let you in on their little secret room. The net is a bit
dodgy i find, but i could find out a few reliable sources.

A bit about Fuente

Yeah, that embargo needs to be stopped. I've got what seem
to be a couple pretty good cigar/smoke shops around me that
I think might be worth checking out, but I've never actually
been inside them. I was just hoping to learn a couple names
to ask for, as I'm not really sure what I would like. Are
there different procedures for smoking different types of
cigars?

I've since got the book and it's brilliant. I'm scared to
read it all because there would be no more. It's a bit
different. It's funny. The artwork is nice.

"Are
there different procedures for smoking different types of
cigars? "

No not really. Some people i think take the whole thing too
far. The cigar you choose shouldn't be too dry or too moist.
If you press it lightly it should be springy but not too
soft. It should be equal all the way, no harder parts or
bits that seem less packed. Cigars packed too tightly can
have a tight draw.. on the other hand, too soft isn't good
either.

A darker wrapper usually means more fermentation. Maybe a
bit sweeter. The lighter shade the wrapper is, the quicker
it's been dried. Usually they still have quite a bit of
chlorophyll.

Some cigars are more suited after a nice meal, others can
be enjoyed in the afternoon or even in the morning. But it's
all relative. A good ash is usually solid and you only need
the ashtray 3-4 times. Some nutters like to leave it on as
long as possible. But it doesn't always mean it was a great
cigar.

All i can say is try stuff. You'll soon have a favourite
shape and brand and from there you can just try more brands
and compare. Go to a cigar shop where you feel the owners
have a passion for cigars. They'll gladly pass on their
wisdom.

I find cigar shop owners are generally always kind and keen
to show stuff.

Thanks for the info. Is it worse for one's health to smoke
the cigars with a lot of chlorophyll in them?

I don't know. Doubt it. They were hugely popular in the
seventies. Columbo nearly always has a claro or double
claro.
