Fantastic albums that set the standard

Kraftwerk "Computer World"

League Unlimeted Orchestra "Love and Dancing"

both of these albums are VERY special

get em, have a listen, buy the CD or Wav's, MP3's of these
just cannot cut it, most vinyl you can buy of those two
today probably won't cut it, but i digress - have alisten to
these as opposed to a skim through, enjoy! (especially the
first one)

any others to rate up there people?

Brian Eno "Music for airport"

not sure about the LP version (silent noise isnt the best
with ambient masterpieces - minus philip jeck) but in terms
of sounds & space between notes, this is the standard
isolationist ambient album. from satie to reich etc.

Steve Reich "Drumming" (same as above with more african
music influences/percussions).

nothing new under the sun but in the minimalist music area,
Eno & reich set the standard pretty strongly i think.

i tend to agree

tho my fave eno is "Shutov Assemby" by far
then "Apollo"

Reich is up there tho personally i think generally, rather
than just one work, then we can start on phil glass, popol
vuh, tangerine dream etc but what i should have emphasised
was "electronic musics"

best tangerine dream? now that's a poser
havent found an album that nails it like computer world does
for kraftwerk, the keep soundrack is very good

maybe phaedra or rubycon ? to me, the main difference
between tangerine dream & kraftwerk was more like some
sounds artists (moog, mellotron) while kraftwerk seems more
classical/european tradition, with strong melodies (just
like "franz schubert" my favorite one). so kratfwerk was
more into proper songs, anthems & albums while TD was
probably more into concerts, ceremonies impro etc..

but i'd say Phaedra with surface noises (+ "love on a real
train" ).

TD was always far too sporadic and they released too much.
They were decent until about 1980 or so, but then got a
little bit rubbish. They did make "Love on a real train"
though, which is one of my all time favourites, even though
it's also heavily influenced by Reich.

For Eno... probably On Land for me. I actually always
thought Music For Airports was a little overated, though
obviously I realise it was influential.

I'm a sucker for Goblin. The Suspiria soundtrack is still
lovely (especially the theme) and I REALLY like their music
for Non Ho Sonno.

I'm not so much into the whole "classic" album thing.
Rather, it is individual tracks or small EP's which hold the
most reverence for me.

And as I regurgitate in pretty much every thread, THE
absolute best early electronic record for me is Change - The
End, which was released in 1980 and probably made a year or
so earlier. Just hits all the right spots for me and still
sounds amazing today.

if you like "love on a real train", i have this MP3 (maybe
mislabeled) that i think is "Global communication - Maiden
Voyage (Original 8'07>5'23 Version)", kind of a tribute to
the risky business soundtrack. you've got to hear it.

go for the complete risky business sessions for TD, 4 cd's
worth, live in poland, the keep, and logos are worth
mentions
