Since Melodies from Mars is supposed to be video game music
or something, I'd say it would fit DAMN good in an
Earthbound. If you've ever heard the FANTASTIC soundtrack to
this game (I'm listening to it on Super Jukebox), you'll
know it's goofy as hell, and cool as a cucumber. Just
reminds me of Melodies from Mars.

Har har, Earthbound tracks always make me grin, this is
great stuff from a great game.

Sniff... why won't you respond to my topic? Do you all hate
me now?

Whimper...

OK, I'll leave... but I'm taking my toys with me,
stupid-heads.

Sob...

earthbound rocks man. I don't own a super but used to rent
the system just to play that game!

Well, the soundtrack is cool as ice. Cool with a capital C,
dude. Totally awesome, man. Sounds like something RDJ would
dabble in, just to be goofy.

And Melodies from Mars would make a PERFECT soundtrack to an
Earthbound game, I swear.

I never got very far in Earthbound but I remember really
enjoying the music.

yeah, it would, wouldn't it?

I always felt that Dr. Andonuts had an nice experimental
ambient sound to it.

it'd be great if somone created an earthbound/mother 2
soundfont..
I love those weird clicky clacky drum sounds. and whatever
they do with that quick stereo delay shit.
I don't really know what I'm talking about since I haven't
played the game in quite a while.

ok, I'm sorry this might be totally obvious but it's been
bothering me for a while now.. who is that in your avatar??
It looks like a mix between Steve Coogan, Bronson Pinchot
and the guy from Dead or Alive.

it's the campy singer tiny tim.

speaking of avatars, you should check out the stephanie tanner project.
You have to either click on 'stp' or 'stp 1.5'. (it won't
let me link directly to it.) It's a some funny/cruel prank
where they make some poor fools think they are exchanging
love letters with the actress who played stephanie tanner of
full house 'fame'.

Yeah we're getting a new Earthbound soundtrack in Mother 3,
and we so blessed.

On topic, Melodies from Mars... eh, years later I don't
think the similarity is too striking, to be honest. I think
younger me was kind of off base. Earthbound's music is so
singular that nothing really feels like it. Some things
manage to SOUND a bit like it, and employ synths or pads or
something that might harken back to that warm, ethereal
Earthbound sound, but it's more a surface thing. After
listening to it for 10 years, nothing really holds a candle
to it. I guess Melodies from Mars or Solvent or some of the
beatless Freescha tracks sound like a really poor man's
Earthbound.

Tiny Tim.. I'll have to look into that... thank you for
clearing this up. :-)

Also, thanks for the link. I actually have encounted this
site before on various stephanie tanner related internet
searches. Amusing, yes, but more cruel in my estimation.
Being somewhat of a fanboy throughout my early high school
years I sympathized more with the victims of this prank than
with the perpetrators.. It's funny you know, while I would
have laughed at the poor bastard in any other case, in this
one I remember feeling more 'righteous' indignation at the
people who tortured these poor souls. A double standard I
guess, but it certainly testifies to the power of pathetic
parasocial relationships.

Regardless, thanks for the heads up :-) .. and, on topic:
Earthbound was a strange, strange game. In some odd way it
originally struck me as occult.. in a cool way. I think it
had something to do with the psychic girl.
