an MP, I didn't know they could claim thousands of pounds for cinema systems, tennis courts, mortgages that don't exist (oop I forgot i'd payed it off already), cat food, massage chair...
all of course absolutely essential for the job.
and if they catch you, just say you didn't break any rules, cos its fine then and you haven't 'really done anything wrong'.
Time for a revolution methinks.

If you can find a clip of Charlie Higson on the Fast Show playing a politician that just denys every claim against him saying repeatedly "No..no I did not say that" then consider that what I would have linked to here.

I heard some women were getting hassled and stuff for saying, a bunch of stuff, about, ... how things were wrong and.... I don't know, I'd personally reject all non-factual "news" and simplify every cockhorm doubletake politician's statement but that wouldn't fill enough blogs. You're (mostly) all complicit.

better that people got things in perspective. people can complain, but people cant go around turning their backs on politics. that, i believe, will be the final straw in what changes this country, and it will all be because of fools getting on their high horse about a government that obviously isn't that bad at all.

and its complete media shitmongering. 'mr blah spent £750 tax payers money on a massage chair' 'ms bleh spent £4000 cleaning the chandeliers'. anyone who is shocked should be thinking harder. im actually pleasantly surprised as the spending is almost laughably modest compared to how i always imagined things. revolution would be really silly. this + the g8 protest stuff is a sign that things are getting really stupid now.

this has nothing to do with the g8 protests
a revolution would be nice, but fucking hell, don't do it because you care so much about your money
it's like saying that the system is perfectly fine, and isn't capitalism grand, and if only there weren't those abuses, and if only there weren't those golden parachutes, how perfect it would be
it's another scapegoat
fuck this non-affair

it does; people pretending they've got an establishment to overthrow.
a 'revolution' in this country is a joke cos were free and fat. making out that were being policed controlled or seriously betrayed is completely insane. its like our politics are so calm and cosy that we actually think we have the right to breakdown and replace the system cos 'did you know mps are spending our cash on their own luxuries!!!!!'. my point is that any kind of revolution in uk (at this time in particular) will be a complete mess and undo about 50 years of progress in british politics. shit revolution is a fucking mess at the best of times let alone when its completely unnecessary

it's one thing saying "the system is bad" (hard to change it in a few years) and another "the government is bad" (easier to change cause you voted for it - and if you didn't vote just shut up). sorry for my english

Yeah well they can gather up all those dodgy expense claims and throw the money at 'real shit that needs sorting out' and not on luxury items for themselves. They get paid enough as it is.
What really angered me was the Justice Minister (how ironic!) saying on TV how he has done nothing wrong and that it was within the rules. £60'000 expense claims in 3 years?! People have every right to be angry, especially in these difficult economic times.
The revolution comment was made in jest, however lets not place the blame on people being upset about this. The politicians got themselves into it and they will have to get themselves out of it before people start turning to really dodgy parties like the BNP.

i'm not trying to defend this, but 60,000 is absolutely nothing compared to the overall annual budget
there are much, much worse things going on i mean, i'm not seeing you make a fuss over the 35 billions that go into the military, for a start

yeah look im basically in agreement with what youre saying but its like people expect (or demand) a government to be squeaky clean which just isnt real or even fair. instead weve got a government that really isnt that bad at all. the real shit i was talking about isnt not happening because of money spent on other things or even because of the government but rather something social and this middleclass stuffiness about a rotten government is a great example somehow. anyway my pissin/moanin here isnt directed at you but at the subject, as you are pretty lovely.

the government as a whole isn't that bad but Gordon Brown really needs to go before the next election or they have no chance of winning.
