Never seen/read any love for this beast of a track.. So
here it is, the Steels Appreciation Thread. It's a winner.
It leads perfectly into Tankakern. It's got the deepest bass
kicks I've ever heard on disc. Face it, you're shit compared
to it, mate.

Steels is alright. Tankakern starts odd without it, but I
can't bring myself to rate it any higher. Of all the
Quaristice tracks this one seems the least formed, like a
throwaway B-side bonus track on some box set collection.

... actually I think I like BNC Castl the least of the
Quaristice CD. That track is so annoying.

really? i like it, i had to look up the track name but
tracks 15-16-17 stood out in my mind as a trifecta of good
off-kilter tracks. 15 kind of reminds me of something off
chiastic slide, it's kind of dizzy-ing.

Hm, I still haven't given Quaristice a proper listen yet.

I did the whole 'turn off all lights, lay on bed with
headphones and concentrate on the music' thing and thought
it sounded quite good and never listened to it since.

I guess it takes a lot of listens, like any Autechre
release, though.

I'll DL it.

that's the way to listen i think. for me ae albums are less
enjoyable used as background music for reading or whatever
else you could be doing. also i remember listening to new
albums like draft & untilted the first time it was a
challenge to make sense of what i was hearing, let alone
remember any tracks.

for me, steels was a minimal version of pro radii. some kind
of sonic echo of that track. i like it.
